When a product fails like this, you never know whether it's a manufacturing defect or poor design, so do bear that in mind as you read the review.

First, I used the grinder to grind some coffee beans. Assembling the grinder is a somewhat fiddly affair, with several components to seal together each time, before the grinder can be switched on. The reverse is true when you want to get your coffee out. After grinding my beans, some of the ground coffee was stuck in a ridge along the inner rim of the grinder. This meant a small amount went over the worktop when the grinder was opened. My old, cheap, plastic Nordmende grinder never did that.

Second, I used the blender to blend some soup. I poured the hot soup into the glass jug, just like I've done hundreds of times with my old blender. There was a loud clunk, and on checking the jug, I could see that it had cracked, top to bottom. I decided to blend the soup anyway. Just like with the one other reviewer at the time of writing, the lid flew up and soup went all over the worktop. The lid is simply pressed on, not screwed, and that approach simply isn't good enough. My old, cheap, plastic Moulinex, which gave good service for ten years before the switch broke, was a much better product.

At the current price of £29.99, the product isn't particularly expensive, but even so, if the jug is going to crack as soon as you put something hot into it, and if the lid is going to fly off as soon as you turn it on, it's non-starter.

I was looking for a solidly built blender with a glass jug that could handle warm soup, and which had a grinder as well which I could use for spices. This ticks all the boxes and both the jug and the grinder do their job well, so I am reasonably pleased with it. And it was inexpensive. I would rate it much higher than the leading brand of plastic-jug blender I had before. (jug very flimsy and cracked soon after we got it, burning smell every time we used it) Some minor disadvantages of the Wahl blender though:
the plastic parts of it especially the lid and the little clips that attach the jug/grinder to the base which are very flimsy. It takes a very gentle movement to clip the jug to the base. I hope we don't break it. The lid is push-on rather than screw-on and the first time I blended hot soup the lid came loose which was messy. So only half-fill the jug when blending soup, and press down on the lid to stop it flying off. The jug looks quite small but I don't find that a problem. Once you get the pieces apart, the blender and grinder are very easy to clean. But it was hard to unscrew them the first time.
