HASH(0x9c503b30) out of 5 stars Still the best. 7 Mar. 2015

For those who care, yes: written by THE John Keegan. His first book so far as I know. Read it in high school over forty years ago. I've wondered since if he (Keegan) was embarrassed by it.
Not that I think he should have been. It remains the best treatment - for it's size - of the Waffen that I know of. Readable and approachable without being either judgmental or apologetic.

I just thought of a reason to pick it up after owning it for thirty something years--certainly there's something to be said for that?!?
