From Amazon.co.uk

Of all the gimmick matches the WWF has created over the years, the Royal Rumble may be the most fun and captivating. The concept is simple: there's 30 wrestlers and one ring; two men start out going at it, and every two minutes a new wrestler enters until there's only one man standing. But though the concept sounds easy, creating a wrestling match that will hold the attention of fans for over an hour is pretty tricky. With this in mind, the WWF added a prize for the winner that gave the Rumble added drama. Whoever survives gets a free pass to the main event at Wrestlemania and a chance to take on the WWF champion. Unlike most wrestling matches, where it's routinely easy to pick a winner, the Royal Rumble is constantly difficult to predict. The 2001 Rumble is among the strongest in recent memory, mostly because of the pace, the outcome and, yes, the dramatic, nearly evangelical play-by-play delivered by Jim Ross (yeah, it's all fixed, but JR gets your adrenaline pumping by the end of the match). What also makes this Rumble so exciting is the addition of four other matches, all of which complement the excitement of the main event. In particular the wars between Triple H and WWF champion Kurt Angle, and bitter Canadian rivals Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit, are well executed and constantly enjoyable. --Dave McCoy, Amazon.com

I must say, this Royal Rumble had me on the edge of my seat when I was watching it. Four title matches and the greatest Rumble match in the world which includes: Undertaker, The Rock, Kane, Stone Cold, The Hardyz, RTC, Rikishi and Drew Carey!

1. WWF Tag Team Titles: Edge & Christian (c) vs The Dudley Boyz

A fantastic opening match with lots of great spots. I give this match 9/10

2. WWF Intercontinental Title Ladder Match: Chris Benoit (c) vs Chris Jericho

One of the best matches of the night. The crowd were really behind Y2J and this proves why these two are future World Champions. 10/10

3. WWF Women's Title: Ivory (c) vs Chyna

Very short match with Chyna dominating Ivory. Eventually Chyna badly hurts her already injured neck and loses the match. 7/10

4. WWF Title: Kurt Angle (c) vs Triple H

A solid match with both men giving it their best. Not the greatest match you'll see as these two have had much better encounters - but still worth watching especially at the end! 8/10

5. 30-Man Royal Rumble Match

This Rumble Match was simply phenomenal! The crowd went absolutely nuts when Drew Carey (yes), The Rock, Undertaker & Stone Cold made their entrances. Too bad Kane didn't win it as he lasted the longest time. But the match had the best of the best! At one point a Hardcore Rumble as well, Kane marks a record of 11 eliminations. Best Rumble ever!!

So, get the DVD you will love it to bits!

After the somewhat farcical Mr McMahon victory in '99 and the all too predictable conclusion in 2000, the Rumble match of 2001 sees the event return to its' full head-on, chaotic glory. Five former WWF Champions are involved in the thirty man battle royal and although it was always likely to come down to either Stone Cold or The Rock, the spectacle is true classic blood and thunder. One larger than life superstar makes a welcome, devastating return, a marquee name comedian gives an amusing cameo and a wrestling legend of yesteryear provides an entertaining, if somewhat brief interlude. Then there is Kane, a picture of domination and destruction, seizing centre stage for the third consecutive PPV, spearheading a brillant hardcore melee involving Raven, Al Snow, Perry Saturn and Steve Blackman which totally sets the tone for the drama that follows. The remainder of the card is also packed with extreme action; Edge & Christian vs. The Dudleys for the tag titles and a fantastic ladder match between old adversaries Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho with the Intercontinental belt at stake. There is also a terrifically tense mood of high drama at the conclusion of the Ivory/Chyna Women's Championship match, which really does leave question as to whether the story is a wrestling angle or actual reality. The chief singles contest, Kurt Angle vs. Triple H for the WWF title is technically excellent as you would expect, with the appearance of Austin 3:16 at the conclusion, always guaranteed to inject controversy and raise the roof. This spectacular fully showcases a WWF roster which has rarely, if ever, looked more formidable.
