I have not come across this author before, but the description sounded interesting and the price at under £2.00 was very low. The action was never ending - after several 'incidences' I found that the book was less than 50% in - I thought that it must be nearly finished! This is a very light - hearted murder investigation. As the pace was so quick, I was kept involved all the time. The main characters, who appear in a later book, are very likable. I would thoroughly recommend this book, and also the next two in the series 'Wading into Murder' and 'Ski - ing into Murder'. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. If you like Donna Andrews - Meg Langslow books and Jill Churchill - Jane Jeffery books you should like this book.

I have hardly ever given up reading a book before the end, but this one was the exception. I lasted four chapters. I found it totally baffling and unrealistic, from the opening scenes where the heroine gets whisked away at gunpoint to a strange country house, and then for some reason doesn't try to escape, even though there's been a murder, or has there?
For a Professor, she shows a remarkable lack of common sense, and I wasn't invested enough after four chapters to care how she got out of the situation.

Strange book. Very hectic pace with half-developed characters. Anachronistic view of England but a good plot concept. I might read the next in the series to see if it gets less slapdash.

Couldn't really get into this book, strange characters and confusing plot. Nothing in the first few chapters to encourage me to carry on reading.
