I am currently an Honorary Professor in the School of Social Sciences, Cardiff University, UK. Previously I was Professor of Psychology in the School of Social Sciences in Cardiff University and Professor of Psychology and Programme Director of the undergraduate programme in Psychosocial Sciences in the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.
My research interests are in psychology, principally in the study of shyness, social anxiety, embarrassment and blushing. These are common experiences in everyday life but when you examine them closely you appreciate how complex they can be; their study provides insight into the richness of our social life.
I have also researched and published in the psychology of art and design, decision making, and in the psychology of education including bullying and name-calling.
