This is my third mechanical keyboard, and the first on two things: MX Clears and 60%. Now, this was a purchase made from someone that is a complete fan of the MX Blues and their clickiness, I'm rather surprised with the change.

First and foremost, the base build of this keyboard is great. A bit heavy, but extremely sturdy. The MX clears are indeed heavier than blues, and this can be felt. However, their tactile feedback is quite nice, and I'm only missing the click sound, but alas, I cannot have that on an office environment.

Programming can be a bit tricky at first, but becomes straightforward after you do it the first time.

My only gripe with the keyboard (and the main reason i'm not giving it a 5 star rating) is the printing on the keyset. While the keys themselves are very nice, the printing disappears fast. My enter key has lost most of it's lettering in 4 days of use. I know that Vortex had to cut somewhere to keep prices on acceptable levels, but it's still a bit sad to see them disappear so fast. Specially since it's not easy (if possible) to find a keyset with the side print of this keyboard's default programming.

If there was 4.5 stars, I would gladly give it to them. Unfortunately, if I have to decide between 4 and 5, I cannot give it a 5 when there is this flaw, no matter how little it will matter in the end. The keyboard already has a high price, it doesn't have as many switches, or money spent on the case, as compared to a full size keyboard, so to justify having its final price over 140€, it had to be perfect. And it isn't, but so close!

Never had a mechanical keyboard before but when my last one died decided to try one out. With MX Clears this thing is a total dream to type on. It's a truly beautiful little thing to have on your desk.

Awesome keyboard, this keyboard uses PBT keycaps which makes a HUGE difference.
Brown switches just became my favorite.

Can be a bit noisy because of the fact that the switches at the same level as the backplate, whichs means that the noise doesn't get "trapped" inside of the case, but gets out everywhere

This is coming from an owner of an IBM Model M - Arguably the greatest keyboard ever made

I honestly believe this keyboard to be one of the greatest boards ever made (coming just under the model M of course) It's small and extremely compact thus transportable, yet it weighs a considerable amount and is built like a freaking tank. I'm pretty sure the bottom portion is made of metal and has a really nice rough sand-paper like texture with very sticky rubber feet at the bottom making it darn hard to slide around on a desk.

The top half IE the keycaps are made of PBT plastic (Polybutylene Terephthalate) for those new to keyboards, this basically means the keys will almost never show any surface shine, the lettering will also never come off unlike some of the cheap rubbish rubber dome keyboards that plague the computing world. The keys themself are also very thick and seem plenty durable.

As for the feel of the keyboard, I do feel it to be similar to a buckling spring with much less key travel, you feel a slight 'pop' when pushing on the key a few mm down and I have to say it's very satisfying. You can in fact push the key further down than that however this keyboard teaches you not to slam down on the keys so hard (which I find myself doing with MX Red's)

I would recommend this to anyone, and why MX Clears are so unheard of is beyond me, they are by far the best switches.

Also to anyone in doubt, this is in fact a UK keyboard layout despite the picture.

Excellent build quality. The usb wire is really strong in fact. They have probably changed this recently. Every thing work fines. Keycap printing fades indeed but this is not a problem because I do not whatch the keyboard (I am typing using azerty conf). Otherwise excellent keyboard, very strong design, excellent filing when typing, good sound with cherry MX blue (but noisy), keycaps slightly curved and in PCB: almost perfect keyboard.

[This review has been updated, see notes at end]

Excellent keyboard. Replaced a K65 - half the size, twice the weight. Grips the desk really nicely, and with the caps lock key set to FN via dipswitch layer 2 is really easy to use. Not investigated anything advanced, just set a single dip switch and plugged it in.
Switches are a matter of choice, but having used browns on several keyboards previously the clears for me are an improvement. Feel is exactly the same except they don't bottom out as easily and quick taps feel more precise. The reds on the K65 were faster but I used to get a few double presses when typing flat out and the odd extra character from resting my fingers on the keys, plus all the noise from constantly bottoming the keys too. Id say if you only game go for reds, otherwise the clears are the best all rounder.

Update - Keycaps now fading after only a few months. Disappointing but not a deal breaker. Removed a star because at this price I dont expect keys to fade within 3 months. See picture below.

Update 2 - Caps lock (reused as FN key and heavily used) and tab (also heavily used) keycaps have both snapped off. Cannot buy original replacements so now I have to either send back the keyboard under warranty or replace the lot. Removed another star. That's -2 now due to the keycaps, brilliant piece of hardware ruined by cheap as they can be made keycaps. I can no longer recommend this keyboard unless you buy it intending to replace the keycaps anyway. A real shame!
