Product description

Product Description

Guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite has recorded and performed with a large variety of rock acts over the years, including a long tenure with UK gothic rock legends THE MISSION, also PETER MURPHY of Bauhaus, 3 albums and various tours with Trip hop Svengali TRICKY, also electronica pioneer GARY NUMAN, RICKY WARWICK of Thin Lizzy/BSR, plus many more including a single with AL JOURGENSEN of Ministry, performances with P.J.HARVEY, recorded with ROGER DALTREY of The Who, members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alanis Morrisette, Revolting Cocks, Ginger of The Wildhearts, Franz Treichler of the Young Gods, Combichrist, Warrior Soul, Prong, plus his recent work on the new album by Black Star Riders (top 10 album in UK) and industrial collaborative Primitive Race. Originally from Birmingham UK, the home of heavy metal, and with MGT having appeared on over 20 albums in his extensive career, many fans over the years had asked Mark about the possibility of his recording a solo album, something which he avoided for years: I simply never wanted to sing or front a band.. I usually consider myself the Jimmy Page of the band I m in, and you never hear Jimmy singing... I viewed the terrain of guitarist solo albums as saturated with self-indulgent virtuoso guitarists such as Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen and Satriani et al.. But after recording and releasing a single with Al Jourgensen in 2009, and more recently an album with Primitive Race and the various guest vocalists during 2013 and 2014, with lots of file sharing and long distance collaboration -and mixing a chunk of that album in my home studio- I realized with that file sharing approach that I could simply ask my mates to guest on vocals for my solo album, with my friends singing on my recordings! Gotta love the interweb! This has led to the collaboration with Mark and friends for the forthcoming MGT solo album, including Ville Valo of Finnish Love Metallers HIM where the duo have recorded a scorching hard rock version of a 70 s pop classic! Completed with mixing and production by mastermind Tim Palmer (HIM, Ozzy, Tin Machine (Bowie), Pearl Jam). Other guest appearances on the forthcoming album of original material will include Wayne Hussey of Mark s previous band THE MISSION, Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls of THE WONDER STUFF, Ricky Warwick of BLACK STAR RIDERS/THIN LIZZY, Raymond Watts of PIG/KMFDM, Saffron of REPUBLICA, Julianne Regan of ALL ABOUT EVE, and goth legend Andi Sex Gang to name a few.. plus guest appearances by newcomers such as Ashton Nyte of South African band The Awakening and Carlo Van Putten of German indie darlings Dead Guitars..
