I got Sliding Void as a freebie on Facebook, which is nice. I suspect that the author wants me to read this one, like it and tell all my friends. And then go and buy his other books, so that he becomes very rich and can retire to his private island in the Caribbean.

Calder Durk is prince of Hesperus, a world in the grip of a severe ice age. He also has a problem with his girlfriend. A severe problem which leads to him needing to get off the planet very quickly. So the barbarian prince becomes a crew member on the interstellar trading vessel Gravity Rose, with an unusually diverse crew.

Sadly the freebie is only the first of three novellas. It ends in a cliffhanger so that if I want to know what happens next, I have to
go out and buy the other books and the author can jet off to the Caribbean etc. Will I? Actually I might. It's rather good. Well written and interesting, a believable dystopian future

And so I did - I now own Void All The Way Down , which includes the next two novellas in the series.

Obviously the first episode didn't end in the total destruction of the Gravity Rose and all aboard. But it was close and the escape was believable. And off we go - space pirates, interstellar travel (sliding through the Void) and extinct but still extant alien intelligences. Ending in a teaser for the next book - and yes, I'm tempted!

Well developed plot. Left hanging at the end. When is the next/final volume due?
