A wide range of fairly basic patterns, most from the 90's. It would be perfect for the beginner or the knitter that want to see results quickly, as the patterns selected, tended to be knitted on larger needles.
Only complaint is .... The yarns used tended to be a bit 'special' and therefore difficult to locate the right substitutes in the UK.

I loved this book which is full of timeless designs and will definitely delight the 'chunkies' out there like me. The yarns are mostly no longer available but alternatives are suggested. Luckily I have a huge stash of vintage yarns including the fabulous Mohair Lungo. Something for everybody may be a bit of a cliche but is true in this case - even a couple of lovely designs for the kiddies. Most of the designs can be knitted up in no time using big 9 or 10 mm needles. There are some beautiful cropped cardigans - mad men style - which should go down well with the younger end. Simplified instructions make most projects achievable by the novice knitter. There are at least 6 designs I am def going to make for myself especially the beautiful cowl neck sweater in mohair which is TDF. No doubt there will be some reviewers moaning about the designs being boring but we are talking Very Easy Very Vogue and it is exactly what it says on the tin!

While you will probably have to substitute yarns for the suggested yarns in the patterns, they do give the Yarn Standards weights for each yarn to help you on your quest, and some of the patterns have suffered from changing trends, this is a good solid book of relatively easy but interesting knits. The emphasis is on women's patterns but there are a few pretty classic men's jumpers and some children's wear. It's divided into a few themes. First steps, carefree cardigans, time for texture, simple stripes, a family affair, easy evening and light & Lovely with between 6 and 12 patterns in each section.

This is a book of jumpers/sweaters/tops. The pictures reflect the era they were originally printed in. I've found occasionally that photocopying the picture and colouring it in in different colours can help visualising what it would look like in a different colour.

This is not a book for a rank beginner, but it does have some patterns that rely more on detail than a lot of shaping, I would regard it as a next step up type of book than a basic knitting book, but still patterns that reward a little work well. Some of the patterns could also be adapted and expanded on later.

I've only knitted one top from this book, the short-sleeve ribbed pullover and I quite like the result.

I was doubtful about buying this book having been bitten before by buying knitting books that sound great but contain very few useable patterns but this book was well worth the money!

Patterns range from plain chunky jumpers through to a long hooded poncho. Instructions are easy to follow and for experienced knitters the very basic shapes of these garments can be easily be "personalised"

All in all a good, basic pattern book for both novice and more experienced knitters
