Will likely arrive with Android OS version 4.4.2 /4/4/3 but will easily update to 4.4.4. My research also indicates that it is future-proof OS upgrade i.e. will get OS upgrade as a matter of guarantee (but will that be the case? Only time will tell. but my son has not had this phone for long so i cannot tell if or when it will get a Android 5.0 "Lollipop" upgrade. However, considering the upgrades cycle is 18-24 months for a phone, I guess you would have have you money's worth out of it by then.
- There is a tiny grove around the glass where any dust or dirt gets almost permanently stuck in.
- Despite having RGB LED it only shows flashes white so no blue for facebook, green for texts, red for low battery ect - no fixes at the moment.
- Plenty of space on the bottom for the back and home menu to go, takes up screen space (but guess it's to cut costs?)
- Battery seems to take around 2.5 hours to charge via the wall socket. Have to charge over night unless you wanna be tethered to the wall socket.
- You have to move ringtones in the specific folder on your computer rather than just setting any sound as your tone.
- It doesn't sync contacts with facebook. You have to download Ubersync for that.
Most of this I can live with. Great phone overall
I hated the way the lock worked - on my phone it would only work when swiped one way but on the other phone it could be swiped in both directions. On one of the handsets the direction to swipe the screen to unlock was also (unhelpfully) the method of cutting off an incoming call. This led to many clients getting cut off and us having to call them back.
Emails; we had Blackberries before and they got my emails pretty much regardless of where I was. I could be driving up the M6 and receive new emails. But the Moto G makes you log in to networks in hot spots (not always possible - and it often tells you you're connected to a network when you're not).
The main problem, though, is if you inadvertently let the battery go completely dead. Both our phones died and could not be revived, even using the 'tricks' found on Motorola forums. When this happened with the first phone (within about 4 months of purchase) we called Vodafone's helpline and they told us to remove the battery. They should have known this was not possible without damaging the case! They then used this attempt to remove the battery (which resulted in a lot of swearing and scratching of heads on our part) as a reason to mess us about regarding a replacement (although they did relent on this and replaced the phone). Within 2 weeks the same had happened to the second handset - it went completely dead and wouldn't take a charge. This renders the phone utterly useless when it happens - you have to send it back for a repair/replacement.

For the money this does the job, but compared to more expensive products it has lots of little idiosyncrasys. Read morePublished 9 months ago by B. P. Bird

I was a bit disappointed with phone even before I had to return it. Buttons were a bit flimsy and u returned it as call quality was appalling. That said it was probably faulty.Published 17 months ago by Harvey22
