Logan's thoughts ... I loved this book! Vlad is really funny, how can you be a vampire if you don't like eating meat? Doesn't he even eat bacon sandwiches? I didn't like it when Vlad thought his mummy and daddy were dead, that mad me sad and when the others came to steal his money, they made me mad! But when Vlad goes off on his adventure, I was really excited! He did loads of fun things and I wish I could do that too ... I didn't like that it ended – I want to know what happened and can't wait for the next one! My thoughts ... This is a fantastic adventure for children! Vlad is just adorable, an eleven-year-old halfhuman, half vampire who hasn't fully become a vampire yet, and he doesn't like meat, oh, and he has asthma too ... Then his mum and dad disappear, and his evil family turn up to 'help' him, which in vampire terms means steal his inheritance. This sends Vlad off on the adventure of a lifetime. A fast paced and well-thought-out plot, Vlad the Inhaler is perfect for any wanderlust-filled child. Too old for Logan to read on his own as he's only six but he adored it and, we had a great time reading this one over a few nights. We couldn't do just one chapter, he's turning in to me! It helped him to understand that even eleven-old-year old vampires are scared sometimes so it's OK for him to be scared of things too. I strongly recommend this for any child, even the younger ones as it is gripping and a wonderful adventure!
This children’s adventure is an easy read, with a likeable half-breed vampire battling against evil.
Vlad is half-human and half-vampire, and all this means in practice is that most hate him for not belonging to either faction. But when his parents go missing and his nasty vampire relatives come to stay to “look after him” (i.e. torture him until he gives up the family secret treasure which he doesn’t know about), he sets off on an adventure of a lifetime…
Well-written, pacy, and fun, this is great children’s fiction. Be warned though – this is clearly the first book in a series and does not end in a clearly resolved storyline. But an enjoyable read, with the right doses of good-versus-evil and adventure. Recommended.

This review has been written by my 10 year old daughter who has read the book. The book is about a huypre (halfhumanhalf vampire) called Vlad who is asthmatic, whose parents have gone missing and he thinks his parents have died and his evil relatives turn up and want Vlad's Dad's profit. To make everything worse his Mum was human and his Dad a non sucking vampire, his evil relatives hate hupyries and want to kill him. I loved this book because it was so amazing and descriptive, I didn't want to stop reading and kept reading way past my bedtime as was enjoying the book so much. I am really looking forward to the next one and rate this one 5 stars.
Vlad is a roller coaster of an adventure. The reader quickly empathises with the halfhuman, half vampire, peach obsessed Vlad and his mission to save his family's castle whilst fighting off his evil relatives! We loved Vlad in our household so much that we are off to a book reading by Lorraine Mace today in our local book shop here in Spain :-) It really is the perfect book for 8-12 year olds and full of hidden adult humour too!
