This was my first Clive Cussler novel - I bought the paperback at Birmingham New Street station 1979. Story set in 1988 around the South African struggle for majority rule, with a hangover from germ warfare in the early 1950s. Standard Clive Cussler plot - well-built, interesting characters, moments of what today's film censors seem to label as "mild threat", and as usual the novel draws from Clive Cussler's interest in water.

This story is so much more coherent than those which dribbled out after Cussler seems to have outsourced the writing to Paul Kempikos (or whatever his name was). A similar comment applies to "Raise the Titanic"", where the story about raising the Titanic intact was ruined in 1985 when Bob Ballard found the wreckage in two huge chunks on the Atlantic floor.

"Vixen 03" is a classic Clive Cussler novel and is worth the cost of a download.

This is my favourite Cussler novel, and I know them all nearly by heart. He created a monumental hero in Dirk Pitt, and his sidekick Al. The way Cussler combines two stories until the shattering climax is brilliant, and keeps me coming backl again and again to this book.

Dirk Pitt - the ulimate man. If only real men came this good. The plot in this book is just as intriguing , if not more so, than any of Clive Cussler's books. As time runs out, the pace increases so that you are swept along on a wave of excitement and anticipation. Will he overcome the evil? It's Dirk Pitt, what do you think? A truly great read and very hard to put down!

As with all Clive Cussler books, this was brilliant. I think I have read just about all his books, and as usual they are so good I have yet to pick a favourite. This book is filled with exceptional descriptions which really put you in the thick of things, and an exciting stroyline which keeps you hooked. I will read it again and again.

I am a verdant fan of Clive Cussler and have a collection of all his books so far published. As they are to bulky to carry on holiday I am now starting to recollect on Kindle. It is difficult to say which book is best, as they are all brilliant, they have a fast story line with a good tale . Long may he write.

This is my second review of a Clive Cussler novel and it's a really good story, but slighty dated being written in 1978.
It revolves around elements within the then South African government and the problems of those times and also the USA's hidden germ warfare program and the interaction between the two.
As is typical of Cussler there are twists and turns aplenty, but I guess that's what makes his books so readable and makes you coming back for more. All the same cast of characters are present Dirk,Al and Sandecker amongst others and let's be honest,it just wouldn't be the same without them.
Overall, this book is in the same league as 'Raise the Titanic' and one I very much enjoyed......until the next one of course.

This book sweeps along at a fast and furious pace and was quite hard to put down. Dirk Pitt teams up with his faithful friends to recove a lost cargo thought to be lost and which is a threat to the human race, good reading,a typical race against time novel
