Product Description

Ever wondered what ingredients like Magnesium Stearate, Dicalcium Phosphate Dihydrate, and Calcium Stearate are doing in 'natural' food supplements? Or why the neuro-toxic ingredient Aspartame is still being used as a sweetener in products sold in some 'health shops'? Us too! That's why we created Vitalife Health. We believe that nothing unnatural, or highly-processed, however small the amount, or however well-hidden in the list of ingredients, should be present in any of our products. Even if these ingredients are certified safe by authorities - if they are highly-processed, or if they detract from the beneficial effects of other ingredients, you will not find them in our range. Our philosophy is that simple. We believe that when you are taking a product for health reasons, and you are buying a product that is marketed as 'healthy' or 'natural' - it should be exactly that. So, when we discovered that Magnesium Stearate was a necessary ingredient to prevent the sticking of substances to machinery during high-pressure tablet production, but also that studies showed it could slow the release time of active ingredients in these tablets, we opted to remove this ingredient entirely and find a different way to do things - one that would not adversely affect the absorption times of active ingredients.

So, for most people, buying this isn't so much for a health drink, as it is a cooking ingredient. When I was looking to buy it, I was dying to know if this was the kind of thing that could be used in Japanese food. Since there is SUCH a big difference in price, I decided to take the risk.

I've used high quality drinking Matcha for making things like Green Tea Ice Cream (YUM) so I at least have a basic understanding. My review is purely to answer the questions I had before purchasing the product. I haven't cooked with it yet, but I have tasted the raw product and I can say that YES this is the necessary cooking ingredient for making daifuku or mochi, or green tea ice cream. NO it is not the highest of quality and is NOT as tasty as the drinking grade matcha.

BUT, if you're wanting this for cooking, it really doesn't have to be. Recipes for non-cooked foods such as ice cream or milkshakes do recommend using a higher grade rather than cooking. For me, with a budget and the difficulty matcha is to get, this is WELL worth the money, and will keep me stocked with matcha for ages.

If you're doing something gourmet, find something else. If you're an average person like me who wants to make lovely Japanese sweets, then I think this is great value for money!

PS: I added this review to every listing for "Vitalife Matcha Green Tea cooking grade 100g" so please keep this in mind. My review reflects the PRODUCT NOT THE SELLER OR PRICE.

Disappointed . When received it said on the packaging , 'Cooking Grade' . This was not made clear on the website. I wanted to , as I imagine most people do, use it as drink. I feel the product was misrepresented as it was put in the same categorie as the premium green teas.

I haven't tasted it yet, as I was not told it was cooking grade!! What I wanted was green tea to drink! There r no instructions apart from go to website for recipes! As another customer pointed out, there was no indication on the site, that we were buying cooking grade. I dont know what to do now, as I was going to send it back, but I see from some of the customer reviews that u can actually make tea with it.

Vitalife Green Tea Powder managed to become a real discovery for me and though the received sample was not of enough quantity to judge its potential health benefits, certainly tastes and looks great.

This is the second time I received tea sample, the package was delivered really quick though the quantity provided for review was not the actual amount sold.

The tea is not bitter and instantly reminded me of Starbuck's (Green) Tea though a less sweet in comparison. I didn’t need to use additional sugar, though I’m maybe a not right guy to judge given I am usually drink tea unsweetened.

There is a recipe on package that can help you with its preparation and when used with the milk or water there would be some particles seen for a period of time.

Given the small amount I received though I cannot judge its regular usage benefits, I can say I’m very pleasantly surprised with its quality and taste - therefore can recommend it for the tea lovers that want to taste the flavor of Japan.

I received a sample of Vitalife Green Tea Powder for the purpose of testing and unbiased review, while all the presented information is based on my impressions.

Great! I have been buying ceremonial grade which is much more expensive. I only mix it with milk and honey but find the cooking grade is as good as the more expensive ceremonial grade for what I use it for.

Extremely good value and does what it says on the tin (bag). I'm mostly a fan of Matcha due to the nutritional benefits and energy boost. I tend to mix it into smoothies rather than drink it traditionally. This stuff is perfect for my purposes.

If I had intended to drink it traditionally, however, I would probably be a little bit annoyed with the lack of clarity on this listing. It's cooking grade matcha; it doesn't taste particularly good prepared traditionally/on its own.
