Review

'In Vital Face: Facial Exercises and Massage for Health and Beauty, Finnish physiotherapist Leena Kiviluoma presents her MimiLift Facial MuscleCare system. This program of self-massages and relaxation exercises targets two main groups of facial muscles--the chewing muscles and the mimic ones that form facial expressions--along with other muscles (including the tongue) in the head and neck. It is designed to help reduce facial pain, neck and shoulder pain, and headaches realted to muscle tightness, in addition to improving one's appearance and reducing stress. Vital Face provides an excellent introduction to facial anatomy before presenting the MimiLift system in a series of easy-to-follow, cleanly illustrated steps.' --Energy Times

'The book is easy to follow and well illustrated making it easy to understand. The book explains the science behind the technique and as well as the promise of a youthful face it also explains things like the link between tight jaw muscles and headaches, and covers neck pain, posture and treatments for teeth clenching and grinding. It is a fascinating book and covers everything from the anatomy of the face and theories of anti-ageing, to how to take care of the muscles of the face and neck, correct posture and supportive self-treatments.' --Wellbeing Magazine, UK

'I use Leena Kiviluoma's book when I teach students on oral health care degree programmes about masticatory systems and how patients can treat certain dysfunctions themselves. This is an excellent book for health care professionals.' --Tarja Ruokokoski, Dentist, Senior lecturer, Savonia University of Applied Sciences

Leena Kiviluoma has done trailblazing work in developing her ingenious, easy-to-use facial muscle care technique. I use her book when I teach anatomy, physiology and skin care to trainee beauty care professionals. With the help of this book clients of beauty therapists can also practice effective self-applied beauty routines at home which will help to maintain a youthful appearance. I thought this would be just another faceersize or facial workout, but decided to give it a try because of teeth grinding. I am a complete convert. These are not just exercises to shape the face, they actually relax it. My face, for the first time in years, feels happy, relaxed and perky. Really simple to do and the tension is just gone. Teeth grinding down to an absolute minimum, and I know what to do if it starts again and how to feel better in the morning. Highly recommended.
