I bought 2 of these ,one for my car and one for my ladies car, both of the cars are not used much due to us both driving company vehicles all the week, on my car the charger works just fine and I have not had a flat battery again despite the car not being used for weeks at a time .On my ladies car it is a different story she has an all singing and dancing security system on her car and the drain of the system is more than the charger can keep up with, so I still have to put a normal battery charger on her car from time to time.
So if you don`t have a high drain on your battery this solar charger works well ,if you do forget it, go and buy an optimate charger or similar.

This is a VERY good solar battery charger. I've bought several of these over the years to keep the family's cars charged up and this one is definitely the best so far - by far
Unlike many other similar products this one supplies both a cigarette lighter socket plug AND crocodile clips for direct connection to the battery (which is necessary if your cigarette lighter socket does not stay live when the ignition key is removed). There is an in-line connector plug/socket mid way in the cable which makes it very easy to feed the cable through a small hole in the bulkhead to reach the battery if needed. This pug is designed so that it is impossible to reverse polarity. IMPORTANTLY - there is also an in-line fuse on the positive side of the cable so that, if the cable insulation gets chafed a short circuit will not cause a fire. I have not seen this on any other panel that I have bought.
I tested the panel with a multimeter on a 100% cloudy day with slight drizzle falling. It produced the stated 17 volts at 0.086amps - again most of the other cheap trickle charge panels will suffer some voltage drop in such conditions. This one is exceptional.
If I have one criticism it is only a very small one. The panel (again unusually) comes with 4 rubber suction cups (2 + 2 spares!) to allow you to stick it to the inside of a windscreen. In practice these suction cups are a little bit small and I found that I had to allow the bottom edge of the panel to rest against the top of the dash to take some weight of the cups, otherwise they tended to come unstuck. Due to the slightly textured finish of the dash the suction cups would not stick on to it. However a couple of strips of double sided tape would fix it in place quite nicely.

Bought two of these wee beasties and both work brilliantly. I got one for the car (always like to be sure it will start..it being an automatic) and one for the quad. Not a large item but very usefull. Everyone should have one.

I regularly leave my car on my driveway all week and commute to work on a scooter - as a result the car gets used at weekends and sometimes it is left for weeks. When I did try to start it, I found that the battery was often flat and I had to jump start it. I bought this great little solar panel, popped it on my dashboard and plugged into the cigar lighter socket and now I can leave the car for weeks and it starts straight away. Can't recommend this product enough.

This is a really useful little thing! I have an old series ii Land Rover which I use for occasional trips to the local tip and mucky stuff like that. Consequently I often find that when I come to use it the battery has gone flat. This is a pain but I used to get round the problem by parking it on a hill outside the house and rolling it down to bump start it! (Not very elegant I admit but it worked.) So this is loads better. The panel just sits there keeping the battery topped up and no more scaring the neighbours as I drop the clutch outside their house!
Great service from the seller too! 5*****

I use one on my old 1982 Trafic camper, and one on my Audi 80 cabriolet, both of which are only used in summer really. On the camper it works fine ( no electronics to speak of ), but on the Audi, the immobliser uses more juice than the solar charger provides so after about 6/7 days of no use the battery is flat. I have solved this by fitting a battery isolator to both vehicles ( about 6 quid each, 2 minute fit to the negative terminal on your battery ). This stops any drain whilst not in use and also stops anybody nicking the vehicle ( a would be thief wouldnt figure it out quickly! ). If you don't want to unhook your battery, then buy at least a 4W output solar charger to cope with any alarm/immobliser drain . Hope this helps.

This will be my third in ten years - We plug them into the cigar lighter on our camper van when it is parked for a long time. Before this discovery the leisure battery was being replaced annually and the main battery had a short life. This changes the game.
Why three? If you buy one and use it this way, make sure no one else starts the van without disconnecting the solar panel - it blows the blocking diode and that's it - dead.

The reviews about the Visua Solar Powered Battery Chargers have been combined with the sellers other listings for the various wattage being sold. It certainly misled me into thinking that the 1.8w is a worthy product for any battery. It's not. You'll need at least a 4w solar powered charger to trickle charge and prevent power drain to a 12v vehicle battery which is above 30ah. 4w is suitable for batteries which are also over 100ah.

Fully charge your battery before using these units. They are not designed to recharge a flat battery.

It is not recommended that anything higher than a 2w solar powered charger be used on vehicle batteries which are less than 30ah. The "ah" is shown on the battery.

Solar chargers above 4w can be used should you continue to experience drain on a 70ah battery or above. Power drain is different from one vehicle to another. These items replace a small amount of wattage within the hour on a sunny day and less when the day is overcast and cloudy. Therefore, it can be a matter of seeing what works for you.

The 1.8w (costing £16.99) was useless for the power loss from my 100ah battery on my 25 year-old BMW 3.0i alarm system. I purchased a 4w from a different manufacturer on Amazon. It's built in a durable folding case with stands and has a cigarette lighter connecting lead and a separate battery lead with clips. It also has a green LED light displaying when it is charging. The green light extinguished at night when it is too dark to charge. The 4w cost me just under £18.00. I'm making use of the 1.8w by using it in conjunction with the 4w, which has made a huge difference. Hence, a 6-7w would've been ideal to properly fix my problem.
