The timing of the Virtual Freedom launch was amazing for me. It came in the week when we were looking to bring in two new members of staff to our team, specifically from the Philippines.

Chris has broken the whole process down into bite sized pieces (with mini case studies too!) so that anyone can step into the world of hiring remote staff and make the most of them.

The biggest thing that I took away from reading Chris's book is that it is me that needs to adjust to the staff requirements and not the other way around. I've slipped up on this in the past.

Before reading Chris's book I had set a mental goal that we were likely to burn through 3 VA's before finding the right one.

What happened after reading Virtual Freedom, is that we hired right, first time.

This has saved myself and the business untold amounts of wasted time and grief in re-hiring.

Actually, I now feel guilty writing this review, because I know Chris covered a lot of topics and in many ways I'm under utilizing the team and they could be doing so much more, if I just let go.

Maybe a new years resolution? *grabs the kindle*

I have been using outsourced staff from Elance for about 8 years, and completed over 200 projects through it. I also read Tim Ferris's very good book the 4 hour work week when it came out and so have a good deal of experience and knowledge on Virtual Staffing. The one thing I never managed to achieve was finding a reliable Virtual Assistant who could do all the things I wanted, so i ended up doing all my Elance projects as fix price projects. I was reluctant to buy this book as I thought I already knew it all, but in the end decided even if i picked up one thing I didn't know it was worth the Kindle price.

As it turned out, this book is an amazing blueprint for employing virtual administrators, it gives step by step instructions, points out all the common errors that people make when trying use virtual staff. The real revelation is biggest mistake people make - trying to find the perfect virtual assistant who can do it all - Chris explains why it doesn't work and gives detailed instructions on how to do it properly.

There are a few little plugs for Chris's own company which provide virtual assistants, but they are innocuous and are probably a good solution for less experience people trying to oursource. Overall the book is like the book the 4 hour work week, but updated and much more in depth.

I read Virtual Freedom for two reasons. Firstly, I've followed Chris online for some time and have always found his blog and podcast to be both entertaining and useful. Secondly, Chris had kindly agreed to a Skype interview for TheNewRich.com and it felt only right to have read his book in advance, even though I didn't think that outsourcing was something I particularly needed at the moment.

This book has really opened my eyes to the possibilities that virtual staff can offer and explains step by step how to implement it in your business whilst avoiding the common newbie mistakes. It's really made me take a long hard look at how I run my business and what I need to do to reduce the time I spend on low value tasks. One of the best books I've read in years and I can't wait to use it as a blueprint to buy more time going forwards! Thanks Chris, you rock!

This book explores the idea that entrepreneurs can often (almost always!) try to wear too many hats and do too many things personally within their respective businesses, and that the key to success lies in not doing everything yourself, but effectively delegating and outsourcing work to others.

Author Chris Ducker shares stories of his own struggles with trying to "do it all" and offers some effective warnings of how this can impact on business owners health and well-being if left unchecked.

The book contains numerous examples of how to begin outsourcing to experts in various respective fields -- ranging from hiring a personal assistant (PA), to outsourcing general admin, graphic design, web design and maintenance and many more fields -- and how to delegate work to the people you hire effectively.

Ducker goes into depth about how to effectively work with Virtual Assistants (VA's) in other parts of the world, especially the thriving VA businesses scene in the country that Ducker has emigrated from the UK to live in, the Philippines.

As well as practical guides, the book includes numerous case studies and examples of successful entrepreneurs who have outsourced their work to VA's and how they've benefited from going down this route.

As a long time fan of outsourcing and delegating myself, I find a lot of this a helpful reminder of why outsourcing can help any business owner reach success more efficiently than doing it alone. It also opened my eyes to taking my own outsourcing and delegating journey to a new level.

In short, this is now the "go to" book that I recommend to any business owner who may benefit from having their eyes opened to the opportunities of outsourcing. A must read!
