A fun step up from Wii Sports Tennis
on 6 January 2011
This game is a step up from the Tennis game on Wii sports and is still as fun if not more fun. The graphics are improved and you have the option to play as many of the worlds famous tennis stars in the game. The game controls are more advanced than the wii sports one which makes it a good step up for tennis fans and people who want the experience to be more realistic.
The bats are a nice addition which make the game more fun to play however they don't look so great if you have a black wii and black wii remotes! Also it can be a pain to get the controllers in and out of the grip. Beware that the pointer on the wii menu doesn't work great with these rackets as they limit the IR light reaching the sensor bar. When they are fitted they make the game more fun to play.
There is a career option where you can climb the ranks (virtually of course) in professional tennis. And there is a four-player multiplayer so you can play with friends. There are also tennis 'games' where you have to knock over bowling pins with your serve etc. which are a fun change from normal tennis games.
The controls are simple enough and with a nunchuck you can manually move your character although this usually happens automatically. You have to swing in time and a bar appears on screen which can be hard to grasp at the start but gets easier as you get used to it.
Overall this game is a great step up from Wii Sports Tennis for tennis fans with the improved graphics, career mode and more sophisticated control methods.
