It's a terrible product all round with plastic pegs that will not stay in place, woeful strings and just general poor workmanship all round. But it is only £26. And for somebody who lives in a near constant state of financial destitution I could buy this on a whim and after about ten hours worth of playing I know I have the basic co-ordination required in order to play a violin. Now I'm saving up for a much better student model from a local music shop. This should only ever be bought as a test to see if you can handle the technique that's required. With patience (and chalk on the plastic pegs, good call the person on the review below who suggested that) It will sound like a violin on the most basic level. Similar to how Dappy from NDUBZ is human but only on the most basic level. It will only serve as a stepping stone to better things but without it I probably would have been much more hesitant about buying one and I would be wasting time not playing and not learning so on that level it has served it's purpose adequately.

Upon receiving this violin as a christmas present, my partner, who has had much experience with various violins and other string instruments, found that the bridge would frequently snap out of place due to its inadequate shape, the strings were made of plastic as opposed to the steel which is considered industry standard, and the end pin, which is meant to hold the tension in the strings, snapped while she was tuning the instrument, rendering the violin useless.
I will be demanding a full refund from the manufacturer

I bought this violin as a started violin for my god daughter with the intention of teaching her, When I received the item it was not in good condition the strings had cut through the violin and two of the strings were loose I was unable to tighten them as two of the tuning pegs were broken,

At first glance it seems that this violin is excellent value for money, which is great for me as I'm a student. However, on closer inspection it seems to be very poor quality. When setting up the violin for the first time, the E string broke. Possibly my fault, possibly not, but not a big deal as I replaced all the strings anyway. The pegs slipped a lot at first, so I put chalk on them. Then the fine tuner on my E string came off, twice. Finally the end pin (the bit where the tail piece attaches to the violin) snapped, making the instrument unplayable.

Other things worth mentioning:
- The paint job is bad. I bought the white version, and where it has been painted around the neck is messy. The black lines around the edges of the violin are not particularly neat, either.
- Would have been nice if the bow was the same colour as the violin, but I realise it clearly shows the different colours in the picture.
- The case is fairly good, sturdy and with an inner and outer pocket.

I have decided to return the violin due it's poor quality, and am currently waiting for a response. My advise is to save up a little extra money to buy a better quality instrument.

This Violin came in record time, and the looks and feel are great, the case is sturdy, and the work that has gone into the finish product is very good, it weighs at a comfortable weight and the bow feels good to hold, for it's price I was wondering if it would be a total disaster, but to my surprise it looks and feels and sounds just like a Windsor bottom of the range Violin.

I am only a beginner, and this Violin is great for learning on, I did purchase a Violin for Dummies book, and Pitch pipe as well, as you need to tune this thing up, which can be a pain at first, but that's all part of wanting to learn an instrument.

The case it self is sturdy, and the Violin sits in nice and snug.

So overall this was a fantastic buy at the price, and worth every penny, even if it only lasts a couple of years it will be a bargain, and I would be more than happy to buy a replacement. VIO-01 4/4 Size Violin Black with case and strings

The bridge supplied with this instrument was made to high causing and it was not grooved. This is going to cost me 20 to get it replaced (which I shouldn't have to do). It's your basic cheap violin but this is not to be expected with any instrument when buying from new! It's simply a childs toy that has no function or sound to it

When I bought this product I was very aware of the bad reviews talking about the poor quality but considering the price for how much you get I figured if it doesn't work out then at least I didn't pay an arm and a leg for it. And besides the only reason I'm buying a cheap one is because I've never played before and wanted to find out whether I would enjoy it or not, if I do I'll go out and get a better one. I have to say now I couldn't be happier with my purchase :)

At first I had trouble getting it to stay in tune, partly because the pegs are plastic and slippy and partly because the strings are new and need at least a week to stretch, so I've been carefully re-tuning it acouple of times everyday and they are now staying in tune for longer. If people are having trouble keeping it in tune at first this could be why, (or because of the cheap plastic pegs, you get what you pay for) and also if you've had a string snap it's probably because you were to hasty and rough trying to tune it. And for those of you who can't get any noise out of it it's because you haven't put rosin on your bow.

In my personal opinion if more people really sat down and DID THIER HOMEWORK on how to care for a violin and weren't so impatient to play it then I don't think there'd be so many bad reviews. I'm not saying this is an amazing violin, the varnish has dreid with big drops on it, some bits round the pegs haven't been sanded very well, the pegs are plastic etc but at the end of the day if you've taken care to set it up carefully and look after it then it makes a beautiful sound.

For the price this is an AMAZING bargin. If you don't know if you want to commit to playing or are just starting out then I think this is a great option. If your more serious then I don't think this will suit your needs. It's cheap but it's cheerfull :)
