I enjoyed. Nero's book enormously and was anticipating Vincent and it didn't disappoint. The bullying is heartbreaking and very emotional. The writing is excellent portraying heartfelt grief and then survival. With the alpha males really living up to expectation. Hot and steamy. Can't wait for the next book. Hope its Chloe and Lucca.

ANOTHER HOT AND EXCITING ADDITION TO THE SERIES

Vincent is a made man, born of Italian blood & set to make his way up the ranks of the mafia.
Lake is the daughter of a foot soldier within the mafia and best friends of Vincent's sister Adeline.

This isn't your typical girl begins to fall for best friends brother type of read this is best friends brother making a claim on what he wants and what he wants is lake.

Lake has dreams of going away to college, she lives with her dad and also stays with her mum and stepfather she has hidden years of mental abuse by her step father and step sister from her father and all those that truly love her, she wants to escape the nightmare and also be free from any mafia links of her father, she no longer wants to be owned or controlled by anybody.

lake discovers that her father owes the mafia boss a lot of money through gambling and to rescue him from a death penalty she surrenders her college fund and in the process becomes indebted to the mafia and her dreams of college are a distant memory.

Vincent comes to lake's rescue more than once and the two become close. Vincent is a man-whore a single guy with a reputation who also loves the mafia life and the power, until lake he had never seen himself with a girl more than one night and fights his desire for her until he can't fight anymore.

Vincent is an alpha male, bossy, demanding, dangerous but has a softness when it comes to lake.
Lake doesn't want to be owned by anybody and the fight to make lake his is on.

I love these characters the possessive alpha males the man banter, I also love the closeness of the girls in this series, Adeline, Chloe,Elle and Maria.

Where do I start, I found Nero to be far-fetched, unbelievable but yet completely unputdownable and I was really looking forward to Lucca and Chloe's book so I must admit I was more than a bit disappointed to discover Vincent was next, but anyway.
I don't know what went wrong with this but at times it felt like it had been written by a different person and of I'm being honest I struggled to finish it, in fact if it wasn't for Lucca and Chloe I would have just given up.
So many thing were wrong, firstly Lake, she annoyed the h**l out of me, constantly, I aren't even going to start down that road because I'll be here all day, but trust me she's annoying.
I have to ask did anyone actually believe the whole staying at her mother's bit because I know I didn't, it was beyond stupid, I've finished the book and I'm still shaking my head at that.
Vincent, I didn't like him either this wasn't helped by the fact that he continued to have sex with everyone else, at times literally in front of Lake and I didn't get any real connection between the two of them either, I think this might have worked better as a short story there wasn't enough here to keep me interested and I started skimming.
The Treepoint, Kentucky bit seemed a complete waste of time to me I'm assuming it was there because a crossover book is in the planning but who knows.
The bullying thing was too much and Lake who for most of the book is the queen of stupid really outdoes herself with a monumental TSTL moment and yes I should have stopped reading there but I didn't because despite how disappointing this book was I really want to read Lucca's and I didn't want to miss out on anything.
Vincent's graduation, the mothers shouting and cheering...I'm sorry but in what world would that ever happen.
The only good parts of this book were Lucca, Chloe and Marie, now Marie's going to be an interesting little character and of course the intriguing Kayne.

Vincent...

Wow!!!! Vincent!!! I didn't think anyone can beat Nero but I was wrong, Vincent was super alpha male psycho and I loved him!

Vincent is the son of the third most powerful man in the family, he's the best friend of Nero, the son of the Boss and lives to serve the family. Lake is a simple girl that goes to public school, her best friend is Vincent's sister, her father is a family man that can never become a made men, dreams of going to college as far as she can get and has a similar Cinderella story going on...
Lake was actually the beautiful girl out dancing with Vincent’s sister Aadyln at Poison in "Nero" when Vincent went crazy
The book picks up from there and tells us what happened after Vincent dragged his sister n Lake out of the club, Vincent has known Lake since they were children but that night was the first night he had ever really ‘noticed’ her and now that he has he can’t get her out of his head. After giving into his desire and kissing Lake, he quickly realises that it was a mistake and pushes her away.
Lake has never wanted the life she has, her father is a Soldier of the dangerous mafia family, her mother has re-married to a man who is vile and cruel to her when her mother isn’t around. She longs for her 18th birthday and graduation so that she can leave this town behind and go to college, free to lead her own life. She wants no part of the world vincent belongs to and he wants no world but IT!!
What Lake doesn’t anticipate is that her gambling-addict father (whom she adores) lands himself in deep trouble with the mob boss Dante Carusso. Desperate to save her father’s life, Lake makes the decision to go to Dante and hand over all her college tuition money in bid to settle his debt.
