Repo is the Vice President and the oldest member of the Spartan Riders. His first marriage ended in divorce and he has no intention of settling down. He likes playing the field. Until now. He has a battle on his hands, but he intends to win!
Ginger aka Red is the club's barmaid and it's the only family that she has. She is a confidante to the brothers. Her marriage was violent and now that she is divorced, she has sworn that no man would ever boss her around. She is not short of bed partners and is satisfied with the arrangement.
Repo has a change of heart and wants to settle down. He has set his sights on Ginger who used to have a crush on him. She still likes him and despite their past history, she is not prepared to get hurt yet again. She notices that the brothers are polite to her but, keep her at arm lengths. When she gets to hear the reason why, she flips and will fight for her "freedom"! Can Repo change her mind?
There is an attack on one of the brothers and they realise that there is another war brewing. Whoever is targeting them must be obtaining information from the inside. Who? The problems escalate to the point of kidnapping and the brothers decide that retaliation is in order. They are not prepared to put their families in any more danger and this creates tension and discord between some of the members. It also affects some of their relationships. To add to it all, the girls are no longer prepared to be kept in the dark. A dangerous predicament!
Repo and Ginger are two of a kind. Stubborn! I found Repo to be too heavy handed at times, whilst Ginger's defiance is a little over the top. Their interactions are stimulating and hot as Hades!
This installment brings new and dangerous players on the scene. It's fast paced and the plot is well developed. Although it ends on a positive note, there are so much more still at stake, and I look forward to the next installment.
I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
Now onto the characters, Repo is a forty something male and to be honest I learned very little about him, he had the usual character traits you’d expect from an MC member, and he did on occasion have a softer side, but we didn’t really see an awful lot of that, Red was about 10 years younger than him and had spent a lot of time around the MC life, her character was, for the most part annoying, I hated being inside her head, the constant whining about should she or shouldn’t she, argh. I felt that the characters needed more depth; with little to no back story I just didn’t connect with them at all. I was more interested in the characters from the previous books and in Taco! This book left a few unanswered questions, and I will read the next book as I hate being left not knowing what happens to everyone!
Now for me I hate reading a book that has holes in the story line or where the grammar etc. is below par, and this book, whilst for the most part was fine, there were a few occasions where proof reading has let the author down, something as simple as the name Manuel! From one line to the next it went from ‘Manual’ to ‘Manuel’ I know it may be petty, but it’s the little things that get me the most.
I love this author, but sadly this book just wasn’t for me.
