Have been dazzled by the 4k quality having looked in awe at several 4k videos from Netflix and YouTube. As other reviewers have stated the build quality seems questionable. I've been using a couple of months and have the occasional glitch where the screen will flash purple which is intermittent enough to live with for the cheap price paid. But item does have a 2 year warranty which hope will not need to use.

As far as value try find a cheaper 4K monitor.

It comes well packaged, with HDMI, and a MiniDP cable included.

Supports daisy chain to 1 other display via display port out.

Also supports display port 1.2 at 60hz, though my 2014 Macbook Pro is having issues and only goes up to 30hz at all different resolutions.

Wall mountable.

Colour accurate and superb picture, straight out the box, moderate user customisation to picture and blue light filter can be fine tuned.

If i have one criticism its the 30Hz issue im running display port 1.2 and still no 30Hz, probably related to my macbook (fairly new) but the mouse movements are laggy.

Sound is terrible but will suffice. I have mine outputted to a preamp etc, its a monitor not a valve state sound system.

* Update *
After 3 weeks I am having pink screens synonymous with graphics issues, i believe my Retina Macbook Pro is having compatibility issues.

I am replacing the MiniDP cable it came with as this feels rather cheap compared to other thunderbolt/miniDP cables.

Would seriously consider buying another, but more looking at the 5K Apple iMac to run along side.

EDIT: originally what I thought was a fair 4* review now has to be a 1 from me... Unit stopped functioning after about 3 months, it was like the main chip had burned out or something as only the back light would come on and no buttons would function, couldn't even turn it off and had to physically pull the power cable out. Thinking it was strange I requested a replacement from Amazon and as ever they were rapid in getting me a replacement the next day, only after just a couple weeks usage the replacement did the exact same thing without even having a change to send the first one back! Amazon have issued a full refund and so its 5*+ for Amazon as ever but a big AVOID on this monitor... I have instead added just a bit more cash and went for the Samsung 28" 4K and it is much nicer!

I think some of the reviews are completely unfair for this monitor...

One review says that you are only able to run at 30FPS in 4K (and that is all that is said). This is true but in reality if you wish to game in 4K, you're going to need some SERIOUS beef in your PC to run at more than 30FPS. If you're willing to spend extra on your PC to achieve this, then go spend extra on your monitor, simple.

I have a single R9 290x ASUS Matrix Platinum and can run most games in 4K hitting the 30FPS limit for this monitor, for some games its comfortable such as Alien: Isolation where running in 4K makes the game look amazing and 30FPS is comfortable. Other games such as Black Ops II Zombies is uncomfortable in 4K with all the visual effects turned up, but you can hardly tell any visual difference in 4K so I simply run it in 1080p, again simple.

If a game isn't playable in 4K, this monitor is able to run in 1080p filling the entire space (no pillars or letterboxes). What is also convenient is that the monitor automatically switches to higher frequency when in game. This allows games to be played in 1080p with FPS of 50-60 even though windows is native to 4K.

4 Stars as I don't quite like the supplied stand. The two spiked legs at the back, on the edge of my desk are susceptible to slipping and the monitor could fall either way so you're going to need a decent amount of space! There are the standard 4 holes at the back if you wish to use a 3rd party stand.

I have been disappointed by this product and deceived by ViewSonic. The big marketing advertises a 60Hz 4K display, which is actualyl a 30Hz 4K display which could run at 60Hz if you lower the resolution to something similar than the early 2000's nokia cellphones.

I am not a gamer but do software development, write code, e-mails, and browse the internet; those activities were listed on the product description as being the reason why the developed a 4k@30Hz display, saying that the 30Hz won't matter if you don't do gaming. I assume that most people have never tried to use a screen at 30Hz refresh rate, so let me say it straight: it is unusable, in any condition whatsoever. When moving the mouse you will see a delay which will give you headaches after 2-3 hours. You can't watch a movie or any sort of video on the screen as 30Hz will create a lag between the images which is noticable and not enjoyable.

The only thing you can really do with this screen is display static photo, e.g. if you're looking for a cheap way of displaying 4k pictures with high color accuracy. But you won't be able to photoshop the images on the screen as the mouse lag will be a pain.

For a while, I got used to the mouse lag but every time I would touch a normal screen, such as my laptop or my collegue screens, it would remind me of the painful difference and my brain would start to heart.

Additionally, the screen came in with 2 dead pixels; I sent the screen back and ordered a 27" non-4K display, which will give me the same real estate.

As a side note, using a 28" at 4K resolution doesn't allow you to see anything, you have to magnify the text and UI elements by 200%, which basically makes it a 2K screen with more "image depth" if you will. If you're doing anything other than gaming and 4k-specific image/video editing, you won't care about more "image depth" and "text depth" after 20 minutes of usage. Using a 4k monitor@200%-zoom doesn't increase desktop real estate and thus is useless most of the time.

Hopefully 2015 or 2016 will see better monitors, 4k@60Hz for a decent price.
