Decided to put it to the test and connect my PS4 and was blown away. Immaculate sound quality and more than decent picture quality. Family weekends away will be a breeze as i intend to save all the kids favorite cartoons on a memory stick and carry it wherever we go. Well deserved 5 stars! Will be looking to purchase another one in the near future
Automatic keystone means it allows for viewing from a variety of angles. No messing about trying to get the image just right.
Really cool feature to mention above all is that it has built in speakers and not just any speakers – Harman Kardon ones and OMG how awesome sound they can produce out of such a tiny device! Astonishing!
We will really enjoy our family film nights! It is definitely a big hit with all of us!!
Ideal time to watch the World Cup, and started streaming straight away with my Chromecast dongle.
What can I say ….so impressed with the ease of use and ability to view an image on a large scale.
So simple to get the image in a perfect symmetrical angle and no messing about. There is an auto keystone feature that's adjusts the image in any direction on a flat surface….I just have to move the projector and done automatically. Not like the one used at work where keystone adjustment is required every time the projector is moved.
The stand has flexibility to position the projector without the need to balance it, very quick to setup.
My first use was to watch a World Cup match, and I was impressed with the mobile solution - Chromecast and projector. No extra space needed at all to setup in my studio flat.
Colour was amazing and sound quality was not what I expected for such a small projector, with audio modes to enhance clarity.
Brightness is also great for such a small projector, and I would say for indoor use is worth while experience.
Does have the option to use outdoors also in the evening as it runs on battery, watching a for a few hours and still over half the battery consumption left.
Watched a few matches on the projector now and able to store downloaded content. Weekend was great to take to a friend’s house and share the experience.
What else can I say…but I am overall happy with the purchase and neat bit of kit from ViewSonic.
At work we have a Viewsonic projector for a meeting room, and searching for a portable one for home came across the M1 at an affordable price.

The brightness on this thing is far far better than all of the "easy-bake oven" toy projectors that Amazon seems to be selling these days. I've been duped by a few of those ~$80 toy projectors in the hope that they would be good enough for y kids. This is easily 10x better! During the afternoon, we just have to draw the window shades and they get a bright ~60" inch screen from their beds!
The sound on this thing is super impressive as well. Reminds me of the little circle UE bluetooth speaker I have; super solid. This is a strong contender for some Xmas gifts this year!
Overall, resolution and brightness is good enough for watching movies on the go. Best in darker rooms or at night. If you want full 1080p resolution at higher lumens, then you’ll have to pay more for a home theater projector which this isn’t positioned to be. M1 comes with two 3W Harman kardon speakers which sound amazing- very impressed with the sound quality!! We play YouTube and Netflix on Samhain Galaxy S8 connected through USB C. I think the most clever thing is its product design- the lens cover functions as a stand so you can adjust it in different angles like projecting an image on the ceiling (sounds silly, but our kids love it!).
Adding some pics/video to share picture and sound quality.
My initial thoughts on the packaging were mind blown, very sleek and stylish. Almost like a beats pill. Box came with a carrying pouch, cables, and remote. Out of the box, the projector was easy to use, a simple plug and play of your HDMI and you’re set. Love the versatile stand how the projector auto adjusts itself to the wall, HUGE PLUS.
Picture quality is great for movies at night and will be bringing this around during camping or late night bbq’s outdoor now that summer is rolling in!
I bought a screen for it, so I imagine that could have something to do with the projection. Here are my pet peeves: it projects a barely perceptible border around the actual picture that doesn't move when you do the keystone correction, so you end up having diagonal lines that could bother someone with obsessive-compulsive disorder were that person (a friend?) trying to project a perfect picture inside a screen. It doesn't affect the picture -- it doesn't go over the picture -- but it's a little annoying. However, you can forget about it -- if you can.
One other thing is, my particular camera tends to lengthen the top left corner when pointed upward. Again -- I don't know about angles, but it's not just like "totally easy," to get a straight picture. And the WORST thing about the camera, which caused me to dock the star is that the smart stand, on my camera, is not level. So, when you sit it there -- it just doesn't give you a level picture. This can be clandestinely corrected with some stacked pieces of electrical tape or a piece of paper, because it is slight -- but it's annoying. It should be level for $300.
The panel for hook-ups is great, but I agree with the reviewer that said the USBC does NOT charge and carry information at the same time -- unless I misunderstand what that means. I had the camera's USBC hooked up to a USBC port on a Macbook Pro, and the computer was plugged in. No power flowed. Is it supposed to go in reverse? Should the camera have been plugged in to power the laptop? Not sure.
Overall, I think it's a good buy. Much, much easier to deal with than my Pico, which is a beautiful thing, but older -- I wanted an upgrade and this works. It's not perfect, but it is slick, which counts for something, as long as it works. I think it works well, aside from getting the picture straight.
