Product Description

Rob Moratti - Lead and Background Vocals Reb Beach - Lead Guitars (Winger / Whitesnake). Tony Franklin - Bass (Blue Murder / The Firm) Christian Wolff - Lead Guitars, Rhythm Guitars and Keyboards Fredrik Bergh - Keyboards Brian Doerner - Drums (SAGA) Produced by - Rob Moratti Mixed by Richard Chycki (Rush / Aerosmith / Gotthard / Pink). Canadian singer Rob Moratti has had a varied career; he first appeared as a songwriter and lead vocalist in the early 90's for the band "Moratti", the result being the recording of two fine albums (Desolation in 1995 & Legends of Tomorrow in 1997). e then shot to centre stage as singer with Final Frontier, a band which also featured Mladen (Von Groove) and over a period of time the band recorded 4 albums and gained a cult following both in Europe and Japan. They played exciting hard rock AOR which was set apart by Rob's powerful vocal performances. In 2008 Rob has found more fame as frontman for AOR / Prog rock legends Saga who dicovered him to replace Michael Sadler in recent years. Rob sang, wrote and produced the vocals on the 2009 "The Human Condition" album and toured extensively with the band. He has since left Saga and this has given Rob time to concentrate on his solo CD "Victory". Victory has an impressive line up which includes Reb Beach (Winger / Whitesnake) Tony Franklin (The Firm / Blue Murder) and fellow Saga drummer Brian Doerner. The whole album is dominated by outstanding songs and great musicianship. The opening track "Life on the line" is nothing short of outstanding, Rob's vocls are so strong, and with great musicians alongside him no one can deny the end product is music to the ears. If you like a sound that mixes the great AOR brilliance of Final Frontier and Toto with a progressive edge that smacks of Saga then this is the release you have been waiting for. `Rob Moratti continues to be passionate about his production, his songwriting skills and vocal abilities are impeccable as this new release "Victory" will show. This is a brand new era for Rob and a one that will escalate him to new heights.

..hmm ..still torn between giving this a good review and an indifferent one. Moratti (ex-Saga & Final Frontier) has produced and recorded this nice solo album for Escape Music and while this is getting 'rave' reviews from AOR fans I'm a little more 'under-whelmed'. Admittedly the first two tracks are excellent but then the album takes a real downer with tracks 3 & 4 - boring as hell. Album closer Track 11 too is an awful 'ballad'. Moratti sings with a slight nasal whine which I don't like and the horrible cliche'd lyrics don't help either. Overall though some nice AOR with great guitar solos (Reb Beach?) but there is not a single track here that people will be listening to in a year's time ..sorry

I ended with very mixed emotions after hearing the CD, and it didn't change after successive spins. Yes, the guy can sing, there's no doubt. Listen to this album, listen to what he did with Saga and Final Frontier or during his guest appearances. The problem is the songs, they don't last. There are good ones, there are bad ones but there are no outstanding ones, songs that make you play an album over and over. The album can perfectly act as a nice background space filler and no one will be offended but no one will come over to ask what fantastic album you're playing. All ingredients are there, the man, the voice, the players, the sound, but it needs some spicing added to make it taste exceptional.

5.0 out of 5 stars First-rate AOR with incredible vocals 28 Jun. 2011
By Justin G. - Published on Amazon.com
Victory is the debut solo album from vocalist Rob Moratti, who is best known for his time in Final Frontier as well as his brief stint fronting Canadian prog rock icons Saga. With help from notable veterans like Reb Beach (Winger) and Tony Franklin (Blue Murder), Moratti is back in an AOR frame of mind with this album.

Moratti has an absolutely incredible voice, and one that's almost custom-made for this kind of `80s-inspired melodic rock. If you can imagine a happy medium between Ted Poley (Danger Danger) and Danny Vaughn (Tyketto), that's close to what Moratti sounds like here. He works in a higher register, but never sacrifices the kind of power and warmth that are essential for driving these songs home. Of course it helps that the songs are all well-written and impeccably produced, and are just wall-to-wall with gorgeous melodies and infectious hooks. Calling out individual songs is pointless when the entire album is as good as Victory is.

If you're an old school AOR fan, Victory is about as good as it gets. Rob Moratti turns in a first-rate performance that's sure to please just about any fan of polished melodic rock with dynamic vocals. Fans of Sunstorm, Tyketto, Journey, Place Vendome and Danger Danger in particular ought to absolutely love this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Featuring Rob Moratti("Saga") , Reb Beach ("Whitesnake") and Tony Franklin ("Blue Murder") 16 July 2011
By Nikiforos V. Skoumas - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Canadian AOR/melodic rock hero Rob Moratti returns in 2011 with a brand new solo album, his 3rd to date (if you consider the preceding two "Motatti" albums as solo works). In his post millennium projects Moratti found himself the lead singer for melodic hard rock super-group "Final Frontier" while in 2008 Rob fronted progressive-rock legends "Saga".

Having left saga in early 2011, Rob re-launches his solo career with "Victory". Although a solo album, "Victory" is as much a super-group as any of his previous works featuring guitarist extraordinaire Reb Beach ("Whitesnake"), fretless bass master Tony Fanklin (ex-"Blue Murder"), guitarist Christian Wolff, key player Fredrick Bergh ("Street Talk") and "Saga" drummer Brian Doerner. So any fan of AOR/melodic rock is bound to get exited by the line up of "Victory".

And the material indeed stands up to the reputation of the musicians participating here and going beyond their contribution, one has to recognise that Moratti never delivered anything less than a great album. So you can expect the melodic rock of "Final Frontier" with a slight progressive "Saga"-like twist which only makes the end result more intense and catchy. "Victory" is indeed victorious in both arrangements and production and for that matter bares no weaknesses. Upon first play the listener is infected by the choruses of songs like "Jennie", "Standing on top of the world" and "Life on the line".Whether you go for the melodies, the choruses or the technical instrumentations, Rob Moratti's "Victory" has it all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Victorious album for Rob Moratti! 3 Dec. 2011
By Michael - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Rob Moratti is known as the singer for melodic rock band Final Frontier but his solo album Victory takes everything he has done to the next level. This album is just full of high quality songs with massive choruses and very memorable vocal melodies backed up by lots of keyboard layers. The quality of the band is amazing including some really top line players such as Reb Beach from Winger blazing away on lead guitars and Tony Franklin from Blue Murder nailing the bass lines. The vocals are strong with particular emphasis on big melodies in the high register. I must admit that when I first heard Rob Moratti's vocals I was a little surprised at the way he sang but over time I have come around to his intense vocal style. Highlights include the huge production of opener "Life On The Line", the killer chorus of "Everything But Goodbye", the nice verse grooves of "On And On", the uplifting chorus of "Standing On Top Of The World", and the very memorable chorus of "Jennie". The amazing guitar solos by Reb Beach are also worth mentioning as they lift the intensity of each song. Rob Moratti took great care in producing this debut solo album himself and the mixing and mastering was done by Richard Chycki who has worked with big names such as Aerosmith, Pink, and Dream Theater resulting in a really stunning sound. Rob Moratti should be proud of this solo album which definitely ranks as one of the best albums in a great year for melodic rock music.
