This is book one in a new series.
The characters are lively & appealing, our heroine is more low key about her powers & not just some butt kicking heroine with a nasty attitude that you see in so many of the other books in this genre.
I can see what the other reviewer means, yes it is a bit disorientating to begin with, you think you have missed out & come in mid plot, but not so. Love the protagonists, tight plot, multifacted characters, a real page turner....

update:
I have since read all three books in series & eagerly awaiting book four, the writing gets better & better & as the plot expands.
She reminds me a little of Nicole Peeler, Chole Neil, & Charlaine Harris.
For urban fantasy fans who like humour, a brave heroine, magical combat with romantic threads through.

I found the beginning of this book a bit confusing and disjointed. At one point I checked to see whether I'd missed the first book in the series. After a while though, it settled down and I enjoyed the rest of the book. It's a good page-turner, although there are times during the book times when the story seems to 'clunk' as information comes out, almost as though a bit of the story was removed to preserve some mystery, but the rest of the paragraph hadn't been adapted to cover for that. I can't go into detail without spoilers, but it's the explanation of how Johnny became a WW (something he'd clearly kept to himself for a number of years suddenly explained without much prompting), and his knowing about the Lustrata without any explanation as to why he would know. The story itself though is engaging enough that I've already ordered the next two books in the series.

Persephione is a witch, her grandmother has just moved in with her and she has werewolf friends, in a world where witches don't mix with them. But that's just the start of her problems. Great read with some excellent world building.
