Product description
Vice Magazine correspondents travel the world to vist the planet's weirdest and most dangerous places, including such far-flung locales as the Pygmy villages in the Congo, the radioactive ruins of Chernobyl, and the illegal arms markets of Pakistan. There they look for mythical beasts, meet the PLO boy scouts (suicide bombers of tomorrow), chat with a man who sold black market nuclear warheads and hang out with Osama bin Laden, and get shot at in the slums of Rio. This is travel at its most bizarre, fuelled in equal parts by LSD and adrenaline, and contains nudity, guns, drugs, swearing and assorted other heaviness - not for the easily offended.

DAVIDsReviewed in Canada on 28 December 20062.0 out of 5 stars Too Short...
My biggest complaint about this DVD is the length, each destination is around 8-10 minutes long. I left wanting a lot more and they definitely could have expanded. For example, while in Chernobyl they never explained why they drank constantly to protect themselves from the radiation. (I've since learned that the alcohol helps to flush toxins, thus radiation doesn't linger in your digestive system). Also they talk about these weird mutations (or changes as they describe them) but we never actually see anything.
The locations are great and the guides are fun to watch. I think if the segments were in the 20 minute range I would have given this 4 out of 5.

Not only is the VICE Guide hilarious and entertaining but each section actually has a point... sorta. It takes on serious issues, without getting too serious. I thought it was hilarious and really well done.
Personally I LOVED the China section which was practically hidden away in the "Extras" section, but every single, completely unique chapter left me shocked, or laughing or both.
Great stuff

P. BlainReviewed in the United States on 25 November 20062.0 out of 5 stars The Vice guide to... what again ?
Was very excited to watch a bunch of short movies about traveling in dark and unaccessible parts of the world. Until I actually watch it .. took me not even 45 minutes, wich is a first disapointement. The research is very poor, the filming is done without consideration for the people watching, there's a critical lack of information and focus on every story... I'm telling you, go and watch a good documentary or read articles about those regions because you won't feel like you've learned anything after watching those 'movies'. To short, lack of research, lack of production continuity ! And believe me, I'm a fan of Vice magazine !
Don't spend your precious money on this.. you'll be seriously disappointed ! That's what I would have wanted to read before buying this dvd.
