Many (like me) will come to this book via the various mysteries/conspiracies surrounding the assassination of JFK. Mary Pinchot Meyer seemed to have achieved special status amongst his myriad mistresses, and her shocking murder makes her life story of special interest to anyone intrigued by the entangled personal life of JFK. The book does, of course, investigate this now famous romance. But it also sheds light on the lives of East Coast American aristocracy - and the incestuous relationships between the elite movers and shakers, politicians, spooks, wives and journalists playing influential roles in this turbulent chapter of America's history. A very good read - even if it leaves the mystery of Mary's murder unsolved.

This is a book about Mary Meye, the murdered mistress of JFK. It is mostly about her privileged life and the murder is dealt with sketchily and unconvincingly. It is nevertheless a readable and interesting study of an intelligent and pleasant woman who perhaps flew too near the sun.
She was the divorced wife of a CIA man and the daughter of rich parents. Having an affair with Kennedy was asking for trouble, and she died prematurely as a result(see review of Mary's Mosaic)

not bad a lot unsaid

This is an excellent book. The author writes with an authoritative, informative and impartial view. She has been unfairly criticised by a rather flamboyant author who has more recently written his version of events. This publication is not a fictional, conspiracy, wish list witch hunt, it is just about simple facts. All credit to this lady.
