I have uploaded a couple of images, the packaging is nice so I think this bar is perfect as a novel gift for someone who loves Marmite.
We have tried this chocolate with a number of friends who were similarly intrigued and there is no agreement between people as to how strong the Marmite taste is. For some it’s very strong, others couldn’t even taste it! Personally I could smell the Marmite more than I could taste it. My wife said she had Marmite breath for the rest of the evening it was so strong… so again there really was no agreement which is why I would recommend this chocolate as a fun gift as it was certainly a taking point. Not something I will be buying on a regular basis but nor do I regret buying or trying it.
For me the chocolate itself was reasonable. In general I prefer dark-chocolate, and I would like to taste a marmite flavoured dark-chocolate. I think a less sweet chocolate might go together even better with the marmite flavour. (I have had chilli-flavoured chocolate based on a darker chocolate, and that was excellent).
I did like this particular chocolate bar, perhaps a slightly stronger marmite flavour would be better, but reviewing and rating a flavour is very subjective. I would say that I definitely liked it, but did not love it.
If you like marmite, and like milk chocolate, then I would definitely recommend to try this.
I have ordered more.
Basically it is salty chocolate but nice, salty chocolate but expensive, nice, salty chocolate.
Would I recommend it?
Not at £3 per 100g compared to what Tesco are selling Lindt chocolate for.
If you are going to use Marmite to flavour and sell your product then have the "balls" to add some Marmite and let the luvvers luv it and the haters not buy it.
Middle ground doesn't work.
Pros: unusual, subtle taste, nice packaging, ideal gift
Cons: cannot buy easily in the US (some on Amazon, I thought you were global!)
