The exclusive Very Best Of Time Team Digs 3–disc box set features the show's very best archaeological digs, as chosen by the team themselves. These include: the discovery of the huge Roman villa at Turkdean; the Anglo-Saxon treasures uncovered at Braemore; Time Team's adventures in the Caribbean; an investigation into a crashed spitfire from World War II; and the dig that no one will ever forget--the mysterious site at Llygadwy in Wales, where the archaeology seemed just too good to be true. This selection of the very best Time Team digs are introduced and reviewed by Tony and the Time Team.

The quality of the production leaves little to wish for. As an overseas viewer I have suffered from a lack of continuity of Time Team programs as my local TV station has higher priorities.
What would be even better than these 'best of' would be a series of DVD's going back to the first programs that never made it to Australia.
Here, in our high country 'history' goes back to the early nineteenth century and not much of the early settlers archaeology still exists.
Fronted by actor Tony Robinson, each episode features a team of specialists carrying out an archaeological dig over a period of three days, with Robinson explaining the process in layman's terms. The team varies from dig to dig but four professional regulars are:
Professor Michael Antony 'Mick' Aston, University of Bristol
Francis Manning Marlborough Pryor MBE, a British archaeologist
Phil Harding, full time archaeologist, Wessex Archaeology
Carenza Rachel Lewis, Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and Access Cambridge Archaeology.
There is a great art and skill in making archaeology so thrilling and exciting it requires breathless running from trench to trench to capture the moment and Robinson plays his part so well. He is the "outsider", the non-specialist, the viewer in the programme and he makes good use of his role. This selection of the team's favourites has a wide range of historical periods and places and ther is something for everyone. If readers enjoy "Time Team", this will bring back the memories.
As well as individual digs, this programmes conveys a great deal of information about the science and skills of archaeology which can be transferred to any situation. Even if the three day time-scale brought in to dramatize the dig for television seems false, the digs are not.
