Many people have criticised this collection because it doesn't feature all of his best songs. My advise to those people is to buy all of Meat Loaf's albums and not buy a 'best of' CD that they are clearly not satisfied with the contents of the CD's. This collection, in my opinion does in fact feature the vast majority of Meat Loaf's songs.
Firstly, It features 5 of the 7 songs from his most succesful album, 'Bat Out Of Hell' and features 4 songs from his second most succesful album, 'Back Into Hell.'
Secondly, there are some great songs here that are not on either of these album's.
My favourite Meat Loaf songs are all included in this collection, including, 'Bat Out Of Hell,' 'You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth' and 'I'd Lie For You & That's The Truth'
Also included are essentials, such as, 'I'd Do Anything For Love' and 'Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad.'
Overall, this is definately the CD to buy if you are simply wanting the majority of Meat Loaf's hits, as it features the best of both Bat Out Of Hell albums and it has many good songs outwith those albums!

Firstly, if you base your review on just the songs and their quality it is great and you would probably give it 5 stars. The majority of his great songs are here and considering it was the first Meat Loaf album i had i thought it was wicked.....then you realise the drawbacks/niggly bits. It was released in 1998 yet re-released in 2003 with no difference. A cheap scam to make more money, probably because 'Couldnt have said it Better' came out at a similar time. Secondly, Meat Loaf must have the biggest amount of 'Best of', 'Greatest Hits', etc albums ever. I can string about 5 off the top of my head. He has a lot of great songs which arent on the album too which kind off stinks, 'Everything Louder than everything else', 'Razors Edge', 'Peel Out' and a few more besides.
If this is the only Meat Loaf album you plan to buy you CANT go wrong, if you already own all of the others or plan to buy others do not bother. I was lucky and got it for free, Meat Loaf has so many other albums just as good/ if not better than this one it does seems quite tedious......especially since 'The Best of Meat Loaf' has just come out for £4.99....................

This really is the very best of Meat Loaf! I have absolutely no arguments about the track listing whatsoever. After seeing the videos for I'd do anything for love and I'd lie for you (and that's the truth) I decided to buy this album and I'm very glad I did! This album made me the huge Meat Loaf fan I am today and this collection of songs was way above my expectations before listening to the album. It's absolutely incredible! The word 'epic' is way over used today and it actually irritates me. Before Meat Loaf there was no 'epic' music because he created it, and boy is this music epic! This is the most epic music you will ever hear! The collection is made up of 2 CD's, each having 9 tracks as shown. Both CD's clock in at around 1 hour, which is quite amazing for just 9 songs!

The album cover says it all with its lavish artwork denoting what appears like a possible apocalypse with a man standing on a ledge and a giant bat creature (influenced by the Bat out of hell albums) in the foreground, and the city destroyed in the background. The shape in the sky also cleverly refers to the Bat out of Hell artwork.

As soon as Bat out of hell comes in you will be captivated! With its dramatic sound, crazy lead guitar, sound effects and a muscular time of 9:50 its one epic tune that sets you up for an album that will blow you away! Dead ringer for love featuring Cher is one of my favourites with its driving rhythm and humorous lyrics. Over a quarter of the tracks are from the original Bat out of hell and Two out of three ain't bad is one of the best. I'd lie for you (and that's the truth) demonstrates just why I love this guy's music.

Very good album. I was only familiar with a few of the tracks and bought this specifically for the full-length version of "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)". Good music - I don't think I've ever seen an album with so many songs of such lengths as these.

Bought as a gift it is a very good album. The product didn't arrive on time but after getting in touch with zoverstocks, 'their prompt and courteous service is fantastic', the CD came shortly after.
Would recommend both album and seller.

The Very Best of Meatloaf - it certainly is a classic collection. Each track hits with impact, whether it's an 11-minute rock anthem, or a 5-minute balad. Some of the best lyrics and music ever written. Always good entertainment. Love this CD!
