The bag itself it smart enough to take into any business meeting. It has 3 sections: a laptop padded section, a documents area (which includes an iPad pocket) and a front pocket also large enough for an iPad. It also comes with a shoulder strap.

As its title indicates, it is a slim bag and not much room is provided for cables. I have a small travel adapter which is ok, but the mains cable makes the bag bulge. Additionally you can probably fit one/two pads plus a pen. The outside pocket is not padded, so you have to be careful when using this in a crowded environment. However, the inside pocket protects an iPad completely, unless you overfill the bag, of course.

It is sturdy and rugged enough for a road warrior and it has a strap on the back which can be used to attach the back to the handle of a roller suitcase. If you travel, you know what I mean (!) but my feeling is that when you travel, you need quite a bit of personal paraphernalia which makes this bag too small (or slim, as they like to say).

4 stars is because it is too small for normal travel, but I guess for simple commuting it's great.

Some people amaze me: they buy an expensive notebook and then, allow it to be bashed and scratched by all those occasions which occur in real life. Some buy a cheap cover, which does more to ensure that the computer is dropped, than it would ever do to protect one's expensive acquisition and yet others pay a kings ransom for a designated case.

I can be smug, because I fall into none of the above categories; I put my trust into the very reasonably priced, but NOT cheap, Verbatim case. It is reassuringly robust, without being bulky and has plenty of extra space for a mobile telephone, pens and other extras that one may need. This is a top quality case which will probably outlast the technology which it protects but, fortunately, the Verbatim is versatile enough that, in all likelihood, it will take care of whatever the techies throw at us next.

First thing you notice is how light this bag is. Despite some of the finishing not being polished i.e. threads still hanging off, this is a sturdy and has a feeling of durability about it. There is a shoulder stray and a hand strap, both cushioned and it also has a trolley strap for securing to trolleys. It is a slim case so there isn't an over abundance of cushioning but the cushioning provided for the laptop is adequate, just don't go banging it around trains.

The label states it can hold a 17" laptop and a 10.1" tablet. It can also store many other things as it is loaded with pockets. Dimensions are: 44.5 (W) x 31.5 (H) x 8 (D).

The price is not unreasonable particularly considering my work provide a laptop bag which comes in around £90, is bulky and heavy. I do trust the Verbatim label so is well recommended.

My 17" Dell Vostro fits snugly inside this bag, and is given good protection with padding on both sides and the base as well as front and back.

The materials from which the bag is constructed appear tough and durable, and the seams unlikely to burst.

I am particularly pleased to see that the lugs by which the shoulder strap is attached to the bag, and the length adjuster on the strap, are metal, not plastic, for those have been the points of failure on two bags that I have owned previously.

In addition to the main computer space, there are two frontal pouches. One is kitted-out to hold a tablet computer and has what Verbatim call an Office Organiser - spaces for pens, plus maybe an i-pod and an e-book reader. The odd book would fit in there too. For most computer users that and the other pouch will inevitably be required also to accommodate the computer's mains transformer and cables, perhaps a mouse, an adaptor for non-British electricity outlets, an Ethernet cable and a security cable. (Security cables can be expensive, but are worth it. Buy and use a cheap one rather than none at all.) There is room for all of those, but not a lot more.

It's a nice item; I hope to enjoy using it for years to come.

There are many other laptop cases on the market, so waht additional value does this one offer at the relatively high price? First, it is very well constructed of high quality materials - no loose pieces of cotton, flimsy fabric or poor stitching here. Secondly, it fits a widescreen laptop, plus a tablet and if you wish pens, a mobile phone notebooks etc. as well, with a loop to attach to a roller case, so you could well use this for a travelling office and take on flights, train journeys with everything in one bag without too much bulk or weight.Though not important for some , it is stylishly designed and a cut above a lot of the cheaper bags. The handles and shoulder strap are comfortable, though I would have preferred that the shoulder strap could be detached when desired. Overall, and at this price, this is, as the makers say, a premium quality case and sits well alongside other competitors in this price bracket for functionality, quality of materials and construction.

This bag is designed to carry a 17" laptop. The main compartment takes my 17" Sony Vaio, quite a chunky machine, with room to spare for cables and transformer. The second largest compartment will take my 13" MacBook Pro comfortably. Within this compartment there are smaller pockets for iPad, pens, phone, toothbrush and other odds and ends. The third and smallest zipped compartment is A4 sized, ideal for keeping documents flat. So although the case is marketed as '17 inch', it is infinitely flexible and could be put to a variety of uses, some of which wouldn't involve laptops at all. It is attractive and looks sturdy, though having only just received it I wouldn't like to predict exactly how sturdy it will turn out to be. Access to all of the compartments is very easy, the zips being very smooth and with large tabs. The largest compartment could be locked with a small padlock (not supplied). There is a carrying handle and also a padded shoulder strap.
