5.0 out of 5 stars Romance with Paranormal Complications! 24 May 2016
By Candy - Published on Amazon.com

Vein Glorious is FUN! From the moment the werewolf expresses skepticism about the existence of vampires, I was hooked. This is an enchanted romp through an magical land with an unconventional heroin as the protagonist and an unconventional romance at the center of the story. Yes, bad, gory, violent things happen, but ultimately this is a romance thwarted by paranormal complications. I particularly loved the anachronistic, laugh-out-loud references and the light touch with even the most gory scenes. This is a charming iteration of Beauty & the Beast!

5.0 out of 5 stars A dark tale with humor, love, and compassion. Not all a bed of roses but there is light at the end of the tunnel. 20 Aug. 2015
By Linda I Adams-Ackerson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Ms. Paludan has done it again! She has created characters so believable one could think they were friends and neighbors rather than book characters. I love the way she has combined a seemingly Victorian setting called Darkland with places much more modern like Los Angeles. The heroine of the story is Avery, a nearing 40-year old spinster, who decides to marry her childhood nemesis Arthur Galloway to give her father the land he yearns for to build a golf course. Through a series of misadventures, humor, crisis, family deaths and births, and finally eternal joy, Avery, Arthur, and Lord Byron Westwood plot ways for Avery's father to have his golf course; Avery to have a child of her own; and Arthur and Bryon to also get their heart's desires. I enjoyed the twists, turns and humor in the story. I also cried when Ms. Fortier killed innocent people when she thought they had taken her necklace. Ms. Fortier is not a nice vampire so I didn't mind when she was finally killed (ooppss - spoiler alert).
