Product description

Review

A beautifully evocative allegory of the spiritual journey reading somewhat
like 'A Pilgrim's Progress' for the 21st Century. -- Watkins Books Magazine, J.Cranswick 2006

A sacred & enchanting tale of the soul's journey through the polarities of
light & dark, restriction & freedom, vulnerability & power -- Steve Nobel, A director of Alternatives, St James's 2006

About the Author

Maria Anne Pelengaris is a British author and poet, born in 1960’s London to an English mother and Greek Cypriot father. Part of her childhood years were spent in Cyprus, including living through the 1974 war which saw the division of the island (a situation that remains unchanged today). Returning to the UK, Maria attended the LSE where she obtained a business and mathematics degree. For a time she worked in the City of London’s financial sector, but realising this world was not for her Maria left to go travelling across Asia. Maria then embarked upon a new career, this time in the mental health sector of the NHS. Following the completion of her nurse training, the next twelve years saw her working at St Bartholomew’ s Hospital and Hackney’s Homerton Hospital, where she became a senior Charge Nurse and Counsellor in CAT (Cognitive Analytic Therapy). By the start of the new millennium feeling somewhat burnt-out, Maria experienced a great upheaval in her life which forced her to take time out to heal. Her world felt shaken up to such an extent that her old ways seemed to count for little. It was during this time that Maria wrote ‘The Veils of Illusion’ and eventually made the painful decision to leave the mental health profession. Since then, Maria has continued to work on her own self-development and growth whereas on a more practical level she works as a professional driving instructor. She is currently writing her second book, with the aim once again of helping other travellers to progress along their own unique path in life. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.
