I know it's a bit taboo but to read about the actual thought process you know it's real and it's the sort of story that makes your heart burst. There's no over the top sex scenes. I really wish Ella would have a novella on what happened next but in a way it does end in the most romantic way. One of those books that sticks in my mind and whenever one of the blog ladies mention it, I'm one of the ones that will say ooh yes that was gooood. I have no doubts I will read it again.

Pretty young girl. Handsome new male teacher. Yadda yadda yadda. Read those kind of stories before and have been disturbed by the whole grooming thing. May be it's because I think of my own children and how I would feel if a teacher betrayed their position of authority.

That said, this book felt immediately different. Addison Lancaster is more the groomer in this case. She fixes her mind on having Grayson McKendrick and pursues him relentlessly. Addison has issues that Grayson heals without realising. She thinks she is his monster.

The book twists from past to present keeping you guessing about what catastrophe happened - because let's face it, you know this isn't going to end well.

I think I seriously love Ella Frank. Her characters are so well written, story lines amazing and hot, hot sex!

This was a beautifully written story.
Addison is 18, beautiful but with a troubled past. Greyson is her 32-year-old history teacher.
The narrative switched between past and present, so you know from the outset that their affair had not stayed secret, but the extent of that was revealed gradually. Sometimes it can make a story hard to read when you know they're heading for certain disaster, but this was a compelling and engrossing read in spite of that.
The sex scenes in this were off the scale - the whole forbidden affair thing was used to great effect to make the sex scenes scorching hot.
I was dreading the ending but actually it was my favourite part of this story.
I'll definitely be reading more from this author, it was a fantastic read. If you like a challenging love story with white hot sex scenes you'll love this. Recommended.

The way the story goes from the past and present was really great and kept me hooked never quite knowing how things were going to turn out for the forbidden couple! Finally in the last few pages comes the ahh moment and everything falls into place! A def must read!!!!

Many of us have read this story before - the illicit relationship between Professor and student but what makes this stand out from similar stories is Ella Franks’ writing and those three words - tick, tick tock. Each page you turn in this story is like a countdown to an explosion - you know the inevitable is going to happen - the bomb is going to go off.

The story is split into two parts past and present - before and after Grayson McKendrick - her history professor.

Addison Lancaster - ingénue or Siren? The first time he heard her name he knew he was in trouble and it began the day she stepped into his classroom late. She looked at him - he looked at her. His ending staring right at him.

Obsession

Fascination

Forbidden

Destruction

Corruption

Temptation - he gave into it. She was his own personal sin and he fell.

I loved what Ella Frank has done with this story She has created a magical story bringing together the modern version of Cupid and Psyche. The forbidden love, the fairy story with the monsters.

It peels back the complexities of human thinking and feelings and how it centred on Grayson and Adddison’s struggle to reach that happy ending. For me there was nothing illicit about their love. It was pure and in the end all their pain, sorrow and challenges align and eventually their love is realized.

What is done out of Love always takes place beyond good and evil”

And that’s all I am going to say - this is a must read.

For me, the enjoyability factor for this book was always in a seesaw motion, pivoting between OK and good. The potential of a five star worthy review was clearly there: good quality writing and interesting storyline, but it just never succeeded to raise the (literary) bar to really make a lasting impact.

The positives for the book were:
1. The story had alternating POV's, which for me, always works much better with these genre of books.
2. The ending was sweet and nicely concluded. No loose ends. No cliffhanger.

The negatives were:
1. Despite my understanding of the reason for the constant reference to sound of a clock -'Tick, Tick, Tock' - which was to help reinforce Addison's OCD with regards to time, I felt the author's usage of the description extremely irritating. Even Grayson was described as hearing the 'Tick, Tick, Tock' of a clock in a couple of chapters - and he didn't even have OCD!!!
2. Grayson and Addison never had an overwhelming chemistry that leapt off the page. Again, the manner in which their relationship was depicted, pivoted between OK and good, but never quite reaching the (literary) heights to make a lasting impression.

.... Wasn't bad, but wasn't great.
