I found when spiralling that there was this funny banging noise. It was my turning the handle and the groved bar passing the selector pin which uniformly guides/delivers the vegetable (the carrot) to the blades. My carrot was fresh and typical of what I would buy and would eat when crunchy fresh, however it was not being cut by the blades very well and was consequently pushing the end panel away instead of cutting. Towards the last 2 inches of carrot the carrot spliced and fell apart. I tried going slower etc etc....
I ended up with small shreds of carrot varying in thickness and length. If you want shredded varying sized pieces of carrot this is for you, if you want spiralled carrots I don't think it's capable of coping with a strong healthy carrot. I want it to spiral courgette, onion, potatoes and carrots. If it's not up to it then it's no good to me if it will only cut some of the vegetables that I eat.
On cleaning I discovered that the carrot bent one of the julienne prongs... The carrot was from Asda, clearly a good quality vegetable for the price.
I find that it also makes nice clean separated noodles as I noticed with the plastic one the blades don't separate the noodles properly most of the time. With my plastic one i had either half moons or clumped noodles.
There is also less waste with this spiralizer as with the plastic one you got those weird mushroom/umbrella looking things but you don't get as much with this one meaning more vegetable for your dish.
The only thing I would say is that the feet don't suction properly but this is only really an issue when spiralizing something hard like a sweet potato, i just hold it down.
And perhaps for a design modification it would be handy to have somewhere to store the second blade on the item as I've already lost it, oops.
I found the veg kept slipping down so I ended up using the skewer to keep it on. Half way through a part of the blade snapped off
Suction was rubbish
All in all you get what you pay for. This was a cheaper one and it felt cheap. I would not recommend
This one being stainless steel will be around for a long time and used weekly if not daily!
