    I bought this model after LOTS of research and at a bargain price from Amazon. Assembly is fairly easy but you need a small 'Phillips' type screwdriver and a bit of patience! The instructions for assembly are OK, but you need to take care when assembling the main body. TIP: If, like me, you are struggling to feed the surplus flex into the small cavity provided in order to fit together the main body of the cleaner, I found it easier to unscrew the retaining cover for the flex (3 small screws). It is now much easier to fit and screw together the main body parts. Finally, feed the flex into the cavity before replacing the cover - much easier. Other than this, assembly is quite straightforward. The carpet cleaner supplied is sufficient for only three applications. Whilst this should be enough for a medium size room, if you are planning on a major 'spring-clean' then make sure you order the 1.4l Vax Ultra.

    Previous reviews have mentioned the noise level - it is a loud machine, but it is powerful. Clean small areas at a time and take your time. The cleaning solution is applied by pulling a trigger and it is then necessary to go over the same section several times to extract maximum moisture, which you can clearly see as it is sucked up. Don't use this as you would a vacuum cleaner - the slower the better! If you do this, the carpet dries surprisingly quickly, especially in warm conditions and with a window open.

    Whilst this machine may not produce quite the same results as a professional carpet cleaner might achieve, it allows you to keep on top of things and prevent grubby carpets in the first place. I was impressed with the standard of cleaning achieved - it's a good piece of kit to have around. Cleaning it out during and after use is simple, although I would not recommend dis-assembly as some previous reviewers have suggested. You never know when you might need it for those unfortunate spills! At under £100, it's a bargain and definitely recommended.

    Ordered this machine as a result of reading lots of reviews. I am in the main happy with it, as it does do quite a good job. My carpets are about 12 years old and had not been cleaned before we moved in 6 years ago, and I've attempted to do them with an old cylinder vax which packed up after many years of use, so they didn't come up very well. The carpets came up fairly well, but they were very dirty when we moved in, with lots of stains that wouldn't come out even with spot cleaning, and although these stains didn't come out with the new vax, the carpets do look much better and smell very fresh. The only moan I have about this new vax is the amount of water it takes into the dirty water tank. There is a maximum fill line on the tank and the float automatically pops up when the tank needs emptying, but I haven't managed to get it even halfway to this fill line yet without having to empty and clean out, which is really annoying when I have to run to the kitchen sink every 10 minutes to empty it and clean it out. The float has also popped up when there's only about 2 cms of water in it. The booklet states that only Vax cleaning solution should be used as others may foam up too much and cause the float to stop the suction prematurely, but the vax solution that I bought when ordering the machine foams up quite a lot too and I think this is the reason the float pops up prematurely. I have tried using 40ml to 1 litre of water, which it states should be used, and also used the three capfuls recommended to fill the clean water tank (the tank holds just under 4 litres), but it doesn't really make any difference. Maybe someone out there has some idea as to why the float does this before the tank reaches its maximum (or halfway to maximum). Having said that, I am pleased with it as it's easy to get out of the cupboard and give the carpets a good once-over every month or so to keep them in tip top condition.

    Almost a year on and this product has broken down, the motor having burned out. However, Vax has been really helpful with regards to a replacement, which I should receive within the next 7 days, and there is no need to return the broken down machine.

    I adore the Rapide Delux; it is the perfect solution to grubby carpets!! I have light cream carpets.... although we are very careful, they have lived through one baby stage and 2 toddler stages and regardless of spot cleaning (with the strongest solution the carpets would take !!), in certain lights - looking at my carpets was like reading a diary of events! In desperation I searched the internet and found the best deal on this model.... Delivery was quick and it went together easily, the cleaning solution and hot water ratio is easy and it is just like using a very powerful hoover..... so, all good! It is a bit noisy and the hose is a little clumsy.... when trying to clean my sofa arms I soaked the wall more than the chair so a design change may need to be implemented for the next model)It leaves the carpets damp but they don't take long to dry and they are fine to walk on. My carpets are spotless and extremely soft.. this removed ribena / tea / makeup, it succeeded where a bleach solution had failed and my carpets look like they have just been fitted (I have scrutinised the carpets in all lights and there is not a mark to be found). For some stubborn stains I would suggest maybe rubbing a bit of the Vax ultra in neat first but that was simply about 2% and not really hard work.... 98% was effortless!! I seriously don't know how I lived without this product for so long!!
