As others I first read the reviews. I would agree with all the comments . This is a lightweight cleaner that does clean to the edges although believe you would need to replace the small side brushes as with time they will wear out. I have back problems so needed it to be lightweight for use and also carrying upstairs. I was considering one also for my elderly mother. But after using it ,have come to find on flat surfaces it does blow particles around so I find I need to keep going over and over the same areas. Luckily I have short carpets in my home as it does have great suction,which means you don't have to keep going over the same spot several times,as was the case with my old dyson. But NB even on short carpets my mother couldn't cope with it . You do need so strength to push it because the suctions so great. I had the same problem too and even my husband struggled at bit (we are only aged 46!)when we used it on my sons carpet which although thicker and marginally longer than our other short piles ,we needed to use more strength ! With regards to rugs you would again have a struggle unless it is stiff and heavy. I am still happy with my purchase it seems very basic in quality with a very simple design. But I wanted something simple to use I was fed up with hoses that never suck well enough to clean stairs and corners and cobwebs. So thought whats the point in having the extras when they seldom work or keep falling off. The extra long flex is useful as you won't need to change the plug/ socket so many times when doing each floor, although an older person may find this in itself very heavy when winding it back on /off the handle. I've had this over one month now and the bag's still only half full.
You have here a product that does what its been designed to do vacuum carpets which it does faultlessly.
