About the Author

David Callinan is the author of sci-fi classic Fortress Manhattan and co-author of bestselling guide to holistic health The 10 Minute Miracle. Born into a family in the west of Ireland he grew up in the UK. After graduating from art school he did a host of jobs from telegraphist to salesman – busked around Europe then rediscovered Irish music and formed The Spalpeens. In his early teens he appeared in films such as The Lion In Winter and Sinful Davey and scores of television advertisements. Later, he formed Urban Clearway, touring and performing with artists such as Elton John, Billy Connolly and Rod Stewart. He co-wrote a Celtic rock opera for the Edinburgh Festival. 'Pucka-Ri' starred Pierce Brosnan and became one of the hits of the Fringe, before transferring to the Arts Theatre in London. Latterly, an earlier spacey, folk-rock album, Freedom's Lament, recorded by Callinan-Flynn, has emerged as a highly sought after title on the Internet. He has written screenplays, thrillers, YA fantasy and a children’s chapter book series. He lives in Herefordshire.

This is a book that will live with me a long time and I can't wait for books two and three in this trilogy. It has a boy with an astonishing memory, his sidekick, a girl who has the gift of prophecy, a talking orangutan, angels, incredible science, nanosaurs - a new animal kingdom created by a mad scientist when all the real animals disappear from the world. The most amazing idea is The Cosmic Algorithm, the computer code of all creation. The main boy memorises this code and this makes him the most important person on Earth but he faces instant death if caught by the nanosaurs or the spirit creatures that control him. This is Mortal Engines and His Dark Materials rolled into one but with much, much more. Amazing imagination.

I loved Morgan Lane. He's 15 and can remember the most astonishing things. Spirit beings called The Guardians make him memorise an Algorithm - a `computer program' that controls all creation because they are taking the entire animal kingdom away from Earth. There is not one animal left, except Morgan's pet orangutan Winston who is magically changed into a talking, thinking ape. An evil scientist has created nanosaurs - all kinds of incredible creatures - that will take over the world unless Morgan can fulfil a quest to keep the Algorithm safe despite huge dangers to reprogram the entire universe. I am dying to read books two and three. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars a wonderful novel 9 April 2017

It's interesting right from the start. A great story wonderfully told. I like the style of writing and how interesting it is. Take a look at the preview. If you like that excerpt you have to read the whole book.
I'm voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this title. After having read this book I would have gladly bought the complete trilogy, but the other parts are yet to come. I definitely recommand this novel.
