Easy and fast to get into position.
When looking for a tripod I had quite a set of wants.
Aluminium - I was worried about the carbon tripod reviews of cracking and shattering, plus effects of extreme weather. I'm not the clumsiest photographer, but I do get into some scrapes on mountains and didn't want the hassle of a tripod cracking.
Easy flip locks - I much prefer these to the twist and lock variety. My personal taste.
Ball head - I was looking at Manfrotto for all this, but just couldn't seem to find the right combination of head and legs. This had it in one.
Light - I was finding my Velbon at about 2 KG getting too heavy on long treks. This is roughly 1.5 KG and makes a big difference. It is absolutely incredibly compact too when folded, about the length of a ruler!
Future proof - I like my gear to last. And this has quality all over it.
I have made one adjustment since buying it. I found taking Panos in vertical mode tricky to get right, so bought a tiny spirit level bubble and glued it to the camera grip knob so it's upright when the camera is at an angle.
The only bad thing I have to say is that the one I got appeared to have already been opened, as it had a bit of dust on it (it comes in a closed plastic bag in a box, so It couldn't get dusty in there) and a tiny bit of the piece on the bottom of the column was cracked when I got it and it broke off as I was folding away the column after trying it out when I got it. It's nowhere near enough to render it useless, as it doesn't affect the tripod at all, but on a tripod that still looks new and is nearly brand new that little broken bit annoys me every time I set it up, since it's next to the column locking button and I see it every time
