I loved Storm it was edgy and humorous with some great characters, some of those characters join us in this next book in the Ashes & Embers series.
The Prologue to this book broke my heart.
I could literally feel Vandals pain seeping off the pages throughout this book, i wanted to reach out and hug him so hard.
This story has ugly parts, it has painful and gut-wrenching chapters, two individuals tied together, who are united by one twisted and devastating tragedy.
Two broken people devastated by the same event, lives destroyed, but some how they find they can be each others saviour, to find the light again after so much darkness.
I dont want to give any of the story away i will just say that this is a must read, a hauntingly beautiful plot that ripped my heart to shreds at times.
From reading the lighter hearted story that was Storm to this angsty heart breaker, Carian Cole has excelled herself with this book, i had not expected this story to go how it did and i cannot wait to read the next book in this wonderful series.
I thought the tragidy in the story could have made this a beautiful healing love story. Instead I found what he offered her as his version of healing quite inappropriate. I'll say no more as I don't want to cause ill will. but I truly feel given the sorrow in the story, introducing bdsm to that story was wrong.
I'm giving 2 stars because the writing was great regarding structure, punctuation etc. I also liked the H when he was out of a scene and was simply Vandal. I'm just mad with myself for presuming because one book was to my liking and comfort level, so too would the next. I won't be returning for a refund as I did read it hoping I'd find something that made sense of how this relationship was supposed to heal. But if I'd known the love interests sexual preference I'd not have bought it.
really sorry: just not my cup of tea. each to his own.
I LOVE kinky books and anything BDSM or Dom/Sub is always worth a read.
From what we see of him in the first book and then after the accident I get the impression that he has never been exactly cheerful. But now Vandal is savagely broken and my heart broke for him.
I really… like REALLY liked the brooding Dom thing he had going on. Holy cr@p on a cracker the guy made me go all tingly.
This book takes the Dom/sub thing to an extreme level that I’ve not read about in a while. There was obviously a sexual side to the control but Vandal really wants complete control of every way.
Honestly I found the whole idea hot as f#@king hell!!!
The sex was intense and explosive, it worked for me and had a level of kink that was sexy but not too whips and chains extreme.
I really like Tabi, I felt her grief but I loved that she allowed herself to be taken over by Vandal and even her inner monologue seemed to clear and be consumed by him.
I found her an incredibly likeable character right up until the last chapter!!!! Carian Cole why would you do that???
I HATE TABITHA NOW!!!
I went from being really happy to bitter and suspicious in one chapter.
I want to pretend that last chapter doesn’t exist so that’s what I’m going to do. La la la chapter… there is no chapter …
This book is intensely passionate and deals with d/s in an incredibly bold yet sensitive way. I love the way Vandal embraces his feelings for Tabi and really just wants to look after her and spoil her.
Vandal gets 4 stars from me.
This Is book is a lot darker than Storm and has addiction, D/S sex, death, heartbreak, lies, lust & love jam packed into Vandal.
Vandal had a crappy childhood, a rough teenage life and that has led to him being dark and broody. Doesn't show love and feels unloved even though he is surrounded by his true family. The only true light in his life is his daughter Katie. But one tragic night is all it takes for his world to spiral further out of control. His beautiful daughter is gone, his sex friend is gone, a man that he doesn't know gone leaving a grieving widow behind.
He's drinking & popping pills going further down a dark tunnel, Ashes & Embers told him to take a break to get his act together. He's visiting his daughters grave and that's when he sees her. Tabitha the widow. He wants her but she will never want him after killing her husband. To his surprise she enters into his life and puts his life in a tail spin.
But what will happen when she knows the truth?
Will they get an HEA?
Next up Vandal's brother Lukas!
