Oh my... I bought this late one night for my Kindle, thinking I was low on short stories - a genre I've always loved and that seems like an ideal set of content for Kindle... whiling away public transport journeys, for example.

In a similar vein (don't), I've long been a fan of the old-fashioned horror genre, especially for pulp short fiction, and the opportunity to support female writers seemed ideal...

PLEASE do not make the same mistake I did. The price was too high for what I polluted my brain with: terrifyingly poor chick-lit horror. A couple of stories stood out as approaching reasonable, but didn't make the rest of it worth my while. The horrible thing was that, in buying an anthology, I'd doomed myself to read the whole thing as I kept trying to convince myself that it was the first one... two... three that were poor, and the quality would pick up.

No. And no again. I need to take a bath - I feel unclean. Clunky prose, clumsy plots, jaw-achingly poor dialogue... and the erotic bits? I've got to hope that these women's real love lives are better than the (werewolf/ zombie/ zombie-hunter) ideals portrayed here. The sex is all submitting to his broad, gleaming pecs, smouldering eyes and manly jawline, leading summarily to straight-up, (at one point coyly "you drive me too crazy to be careful, baby" unprotected) penetration. These hunks don't lavish much attention on their spunky honeys. And that's the lucky ones - for all the rest it's often a case of frustration, tawdry betrayal and fond memories of wham-bam sack action. And all the other women/ girls are rivals to be beheaded/ rescued from - not much female solidarity to be gleaned here...

Ugh. I'm nauseous just reliving this, but if it helps at least one other unfortunate avoid (AVOID!) this collection, so much the better.
