Lord of the Shadows
'Stephen King for kids … Darren Shan has brought his own brand of vampire mythology into the heads and hearts of thousands of children with his vivid and compelling series The Saga of Darren Shan, about one boy's journey from ordinary lad to vampire prince. Once they're hooked, kids tend to rip into the flesh of these books, quickly draining them of their life blood. The covers, with images of ghouls, creeping hands and dripping fangs are terrifying alone. ' Metro Life, Evening Standard

To be clear his is no reflection on the book itself. The book is fantastic, 10-star if I could rate it that high, but alas the amount of errors spoiled it for me a little
but only if you have read vampire blood and vampire rites trilogies (the prequels).
I can't recommend the Darren Shan books enough. I've been trying to get my 13 year old son into reading independently since he was very small but nothing has interested him enough to read a novel. He won the first Darren Shan trilogy in a "vampire competition" at school and hasn't put the books down since - I'm regularly buying the next book for him to continue the story. It's nice to see him turning the computer or console off and opening a book - keep writing them Mr Shan, please!!!!
