Review

‘Leaves the reader hungry for more’ JK Rowling

"I read Cirque Du Freak last week. I loved it. I love the way you manage to juggle the funny with the unpleasant, the affection with the hurt. It's
great story-telling."
Roddy Doyle

Lord of the Shadows
'Stephen King for kids … Darren Shan has brought his own brand of vampire mythology into the heads and hearts of thousands of children with his vivid and compelling series The Saga of Darren Shan, about one boy's journey from ordinary lad to vampire prince. Once they're hooked, kids tend to rip into the flesh of these books, quickly draining them of their life blood. The covers, with images of ghouls, creeping hands and dripping fangs are terrifying alone. ' Metro Life, Evening Standard

I have read all of Darren Shan's work and find them to be the best i have ever come across. The story is gripping, the plot line exciting and very visual and inventive. It pulls you in and is a saga you will never forget! One wonderful feature is that unlike most books, it is totally unobvious as to who will suffer next, yet the characters all tie to you individually. And i can say this about all of his books, none have dissapointed. If you haven't read Darren Shan you are missing out! *****

At the beggining of the first book, Darren Shan says that the following books are all true, yeah right! Darren Shan, once again proves he is an excellent mild-horror writer with these three books. He once again shows that he can describe objects, surroundings, people and feelings all in vivid detail - you can really understand what it would be like to be in Darren's shoes. These three fast-paced books are Numbers 9-12 0f The Saga Of Darren Shan, the last three books of the series. And, in my opinion, the best three.

The tenth book (The Lake Of Souls), continues straight on from when Darren's tutor died, and showing how the Darren feels, in great detail. When they get back, Harket starts having nightmares and is beggining to go mad, so Mr. Tiny comes and tells Darren and Harket that to save Harket, they have to travel far into the future and find out who Harket was before. There are many dangers lurking in the skies, the water and the land in this time. Thier mission: To get to the lake of souls and fish out Harkets soul.

Book 11 (Lord Of The Shadows): After coming back from the future world, Darren finds that the nightmarish world will be created by either him or Steve! And Steve returns to the Cirque Du Freak, and kidnaps and kills Snakeboy's son, making a fool out of Darren. He finds out that Steve had a child with Darren's sister when he was gone, making Darren furious. Also, he finds out, that The Lord Of Shadows cannot be stopped. He starts to prepare to have a final battle with Steve.

In the twelth book (Sons Of Destiny), well, I can't really give much away since it's the last book, so I'll just say this book tells us the final battle of Darren and Steve.

The saga of Darren Shan are the best books i have ever read. They appear to be unbelievable but after reading the last book you can be forced to believe otherwise. I advise anyone who loves to read horrors or thrillers to buy all of these books as they are captivating, you can not put them down.

Ive written the same review for all the Darren Shan books......

These are an excellent read for all those who like vampires or fantasy tales of the supernatural. They are pretty much for kids (10 years and up) so dont expect too much in the way of gore and horror, but very well written with stories that pretty much keep you hooked till the end and usually wanting more. They most def offer more than the actual movie version and well worth the money and read if books are your form of entertainment.
They arrived quickly (as i tend to by books in bulk) and within the time stated by amazon/the seller.

This is a wonderful book. You simply MUST read it.
It's gripping, fast and emotional. The storyline is fantastic, and the characters seem so very real. It probably one of my favourite books of all time.
However, you may want to keep a box of hankies at close reach; the author is fairly merciless and isn't afraid to kill off his characters. Because of this, you really don't know what's going to happen. Unfortuanatly, I had the story spoiled so it didn't turn out as riviting as it would have been.
I would advise you read the previous books before starting this one, as they give you a greater insight into the story and characters, although a short summary of the story-so-far is present at the start of each book.
So, keep clear of spoilers, and this will turn out as a beautiful, unforgettable story that you will remember long after you finish it.

I would recommend this series for interesting story my daughter choose the books herself and we were delighted that we could have all of the series together! she is 10 yrs old and read the books everywhere-in the car, at school when she got the chance-they are given time to read their own books! She says that her review of it is 'it leaves the reader hungry for more, I just had to read them, with every problem solved there comes another problem and I's really good and interesting, and it's the best book series I ever read!'

I can use a simple word to comment this book, Fantastic! This book is great for kids who loved horror. Actually, not until I flipped the last page of this book that I realized how fantastic this book was. Honestly, I hate Darren Shan when I first saw it as I hate horrors. They gave me shivers and nightmares. However, by a coincidence, I took a glimpse at the first page of Vampire Blood trilogy and found out it was fantastic! For this epic ending, it ended well and great. Everything was unpredictable and a bit sad. Everything that Darren had done was forgotten, actually not even happened. I don't think it is good, however, I remained excited and surprised. Surprised by what I read, a little person to paradise and aim for happiness and merry. Hope you find it interesting and write more reviews to compliment this really fantastic book!
