About the Author

Author of British paranormal romance series The Redcliffe Novels, Catherine Green was raised on books from a young age, and has happy memories of Saturday mornings spent in her small local library, devouring the contents of the shelves. Catherine has always been fascinated by the supernatural world, and it feels natural for her to write about vampires, werewolves, witches and other mystical creatures in her contemporary stories. Catherine is currently working on several writing projects, although she is slightly distracted by her young family! If you sign up to Catherine’s newsletter, she will send you a free copy of her Redcliffe short story, It’s Complicated, to introduce you to her fictional supernatural seaside town in Cornwall, England. I was very lucky to receive an advanced copy to read prior to its release and I am loved it.

I admit I do find all things paranormal really interesting and that was why i was drawn to the author.

If you think this is simply another book that is jumping on the twilight bandwagon then you are mistaken.

The vampire of blackpool is modern and up to date and interestingly features a female vampire as the main character. We are taken on a journey with her and I found her fascinating.

If you like vampires and a bit of romance than I highly recommend this book for you. I would love see more of Merideth in future books!

The beginning was a little slow but this is a slow burn kind of story that is really worth sticking with. After many years, the main character, a vampire named Meredith, is becoming bored with her comfortable way of life and takes a few uncharacteristic risks, with devastating effect on the vampire and 'other' community of her town. Set in the north west of England, we see a different side to the usually fun and friendly seaside town of Blackpool. If you love vampire stories in the vein of Anne Rice, you will love this very literary, elegant story. Highly recommended.

The Vampire of Blackpool was generously given to me in exchange for an honest review. I like vampire books and I enjoy seeing how different authors create their stories surrounding the vampire/supernatural world. This is a quick read and focuses on an ancient female vampire named Meredith. She considers herself content at the start of the story until one night she meets an intriguing witch and is attacked by a vampire hunter. This night begins her journey to finding the happiness and meaning that she didn't realize she was looking for in her life. The book was engaging but on the shorter side. I think the characters and relationships could have been developed a bit more. However, I very much liked how the author dealt with the vampire hunter in the end. Very creative and I didn't see it coming. I'd actually like to read his story in the future, starting with where this book ended with Meredith as a minor character.
