The second in the series which follows straight on from the first. I personally didn't find this book as engrossing because it doesn't really add much more to the main characters.

Chevalier you don't learn much about except that he is working long hours and goes out a couple of times to do "his job" which he enjoys.

Emily keeps on being stubborn and arguing (seemingly) with every decision that has to be made. It is one thing to make a stand for yourself, especially when trying to find yourself after an abusive relationship, but to constantly argue over everything becomes "boring" for the reader. She has moments of bravery, courage and spirit that continues to keep my interest but on the whole, I'm afraid that she is lacking something.

So far, this has been a good couple of books. Will I buy the rest of the series - hhmmmm, not sure.

Read the first book because it was free and it was really good so bought this one straight away. The books are well thought out and written and the characters are engaging but I soon grew tired of Emily. She spends most of this book running away, trying to run away or threatening to leave Chevalier and it just became annoying. Its one thing to want freedom, be strong and independent but she had literally no self preservation and just kept running into trouble. By the end I found her behaviour selfish and spoilt, she spent little time with Allen, was unsupportive to her husband no matter what he did and had no understanding of the world of the Heku. I have the next book on my Kindle but will be taking a break for a while......

The only thing that has prevented me from giving this book five stars is that it didnt have a decent end. I like a story to have a beginning, middle and end, and I was left feeling a little frustrated. Having said that, I did not want to put the book down and I just love the character of Emily. I cannot wait to read book three.

Love it! This is the second book in the series and delves further into the characters and their world. Emily is a brilliant character, she is sweet and funny and frustrating all at the same time. I already downloaded the third book before I even finished this one. Can't get enough!
