Product Description

Product Description

The new Ventum III is an evolution of our popular Premium 4 fan, engineered to feature a triple blade propeller design. At 199mm high the Ventum III fan starts to rotate at an ultra low surface temperature, due to the newly designed easy start motor. The unique triple blade design pushes air quietly and effectively over a greater distance than other models, featuring our advanced radiating fin design extrusion to generate maximum airflow. The triple blade design produces less drag than the 4 blade but more thrust than a 2 blade fan. Designed to start at a temperature as low as 45C, the fan requires no batteries or external power. Heat is conducted though the base of the fan and converted to electricity which powers the fan motor. With a durable, hard wearing black anodised finish, the fan automatically slows and stops as the heat from the stove reduces.

There are loads of fan options, I had no idea which one to pick so I purchased four of these fans from amazon - Ventium III 3-blade (this product), Ventum II, Valiant Premium IV 4-Blade, Valiant 2-Blade - in order to figure out which was best, making use of Amazon's excellent returns policy. My stove is inset so needed something to push the heat out into the room. I heated up my stove and tried out each fan one-by-one, leaving them 10mins to get up to speed. I was looking for 1) silence, and 2) airflow. The original Valiant 2-Blade was totally silent, but didn't push much air. The IV 4-Blade was up next - more air, but also noisey. Then the Ventum II, more air than the original Valiant 2-Blade, also as silent. But the Ventium III 3-Blade pushed by far the most air, and was also pretty much silent (though not quite as quiet as the 2-Blade). I used a "very scientific" method of holding up a newspaper in front of each of the fans and measuring how far the newpaper was pushed upwards by the airflow. the Ventium III 3-blade was the clear winner. Despite the Ventium III 3-blade being the most expensive, I kept it and returned the other three the next day.

Important note!! At one stage I put two fans on my stove, one on the left hand side, the other on the right. I was confused for a while as the right hand side fan always seemed to turn slower than the left. I got a thermometer and measured both sides, turns out the right hand side was 50C degree cooler than the left, hence the slower fan RPM. I dug out the exploded view of my stove (Morso 1416), and realised that the secondary intake is at the top right hand rear of the stove, and the air is ducted past the right hand side of the chimeny just under the top of the stove, which therefore cools the right hand surface of the stove significantly. IN OTHER WORDS, make sure to test your fan on both left and right hand side of your stove, otherwise you may not be making best use of the heat available!

My stove sits fully recessed in the fire place and I have an open plan downstairs. I've often though that a lot of the heat is just being absorbed into the chimney stack, and on a cold night, all you seem to do is feed the fire to no real effect. This device has made all the difference! Instead of the heat just going into the bricks, it is gently blown into the room. I'm now able to use the stove as it's designed (get it hot then slow the burn by controlling the vents, instead of chucking log after log on it to get a massive fire). I genuinely think I will use less than half the logs from now on.

(Its not like an electric fan heater blowing into you room, it's more of a gentle yet constant move of air. Just about enough to blow out a candle, but still very effective!)

Perfect device. It slightly pushes warm air without significant noise and no wind to the far corner of the room. It smooths the temperature and extend the comfort zone from the half to the entire room (+3 degrees) when the outside temperature falls below -10 degrees. You will feel the results, but you are not disturbed by noise, wind any wires, etc. Just put your fan over the stove and forget about it. Even overheat do not spoil it as it stays up a bit when the stove temperature goes above 300 degrees.

Not the cheapest of stove fans, but several reviews I read highly rated its performance. It is nicely made, simple and solid. Had it about two months and so far it works well and certainly improves the circulation of warm air in the room. The stove top needs to get pretty warm before it kicks in but when running it is quite and almost unnoticeable. I would recommend this fan. However, I have only ever purchased the one, so cannot compare it to others.

We have a gas log effect burner and didn't expect this to work very well having tried a similar fan from somewhere else that had been returned as it didn't work. This fan starts at a much lower temperature and keeps going for ages even when we have turned the fire off. Really makes a difference to the heat distribution in the room. Very pleased.

Only had this for 3 days but I love it! Starts up really quickly when the stove is hardly warm and the room heats up very much more quickly than without it and that's just what I needed. Room was already getting up to 22-23 deg C and the fan has not made that much difference once the room is warm but with the doors open adjacent rooms are noticeably warmer as there is a definite gentle warm air flow from the fan.

There is a slight buzz from the fan but not really audible above the TV. I bought mine for £75 inc p&p from another supplier so shop around for the best price. Just hope it lasts as cheaper versions seem to fail after a few months
