This is the concluding book in a series of four from Evan Currie based around a small backwater world called Hayden. I downloaded the first in the series last year on a whim without any great expectation. Well, I devoured that book and quickly bought the other two published. What started off as a fantastic military space adventure simply got better at each new instalment.

Then I had to wait six months for this one. And it is a worthy rounding off of what I suspect will be the first chapter in this universe. It's brilliantly done. Seriously, it is without a shadow of a doubt the best hard military sci-fi series that I've read and I have read a few, including all of the major authors in this field.

The most important thing about Evan Currie is that he can write. Unfortunately this genre is littered with utter tosh written by people with way more enthusiasm than talent and literary ability. Evan Currie has it in spades. He can write gripping page turning books that are grammatically correct and both informative and accessible. Not many people can do that.

It's also true that the story is king. There are some authors who try to stay as true as it can be to physical reality as far as we know with painstaking - and often boring - detail, Currie balances this with the need to keep the story moving at a good lick. It makes for great reading because characters develop along with the many threaded story avoiding getting bogged down with minutiae that in the end adds little. He also has written a decent grown up story. There is some swearing - not much - to add a degree of authenticity to what in the end is a group of military people along with the reality that sometimes people might have relationships.

This final episode has all the hero's acting out their most dangerous missions yet. The enemy alliance brings its biggest fleet ever out to battle the human defence of planet Hayden and the solar system. I hope to see more of these incredibly imaginative and realistic stories.

Terrible conversion from actual book to Kindle.
The editing is so bad it is making the story very difficult to read.
Mistakes abound.
Hardly a chapter goes by without ten or more grammatical errors.

Story itself is not great. Very bitty storyline and a short book overall.

Continuing the gripping tale of Hayden's world and the Alien invasion - some interesting and unexpected twists in this one with things and people not being quite what they appear to be. Very enjoyable and well recommended.

I have really enjoyed this series and will miss following this story. In this book the aliens decide to bring a final end to the irritating humans, great struggle which ends in the centre holding, but it's a costly battle. You might be left wondering just how....... But your not alone. I really loved this series and will check out the authors other work.

I have only one criticism of this entire series. It ends rather abruptly, almost as if the author has run out od storey!

I enjoyed all the books. If you enjoy space and military sci fi you will enjoy these. The technology is believable, the characters also appear believable. Worth buying, but you need to start with book1 and read them in order.

This book just gets better and better the further you get into the book, such fantastic scences in the book makes me wish it was real, Am looking forward to seeing where the series goes from here, as it is defintly not the end of this series as there are too many questions unanswered. I would say its the end to Hayden war and where humanity takes its place in the Alliance or becomes a pain in the backside for it

After wating so long for this I 'gobbled' it down with much gusto that I had to return and re-read it again a few days later.
A fitting finale if ever there was, with a continuation of the plots action and no loss in the story line, characters, or the quality.
The whole series is thrilling and the sort of SciFi that I enjoy, with plenty of space action, defined characters, good story line,
and believable technology.
