About the Author

Jean-Claude Mezieres and Pierre Christin created "Valerian" in 1967 after working in the USA together, one as a cowboy, the other a teacher. While "Valerian" is Mezieres' only comic series, he has worked as an illustrator in many other areas, including designs and sets for "The Fifth Element," and he was awarded the Grand Prix du festival d'Angouleme in 1984. Christin also works in collaboration with other artists such as Tardi and Bilal and writes novels and film scripts.

Album number 6 is a fabulous story. I was positively surprised, perhaps because after quite average 'Birds of Master' I didn't have too high expectations. This is a hard S-F story with action taking place at the Point Central, huge multicultural space station. In this episode our usual hero Valerian plays supporting role and the main focus is on Laureline who simply can join the pantheon of mightiest S-F heroines. The story is full of surprises with excellent humour and graphic is a first class.

Everyone who already loved the adventures of Valerian and Laureline will be happy to see that Cinebook announces two more albums: 'On the False Earths' and 'Heroes of the Equinox planned for 2014.

Probably the best work of the series.

HASH(0x91bdc09c) out of 5 stars A masterpiece work of art! 19 May 2014

Rich with character and visual wonders, this intriguing story takes Laureline through one of the most amazing mysteries of the series, loaded with imagination, humor and very down to earth political lessons. This is your chance to find out how much Star Wars owes to these incredible works of art!

This story appeared in Heavy Metal magazine in 1983,when the publication was in it's prime.Mezires and Christin were at their peak as well. Not to spoil the story, but Laureline takes front and center this time around. With the help of 'The Grumpy Convertor',this becomes my personal favorite 'Valerian' story.Highly recommended!.
