"This book is not a rock biography" as it says in the introduction.

What it IS however is much better than that. Some 50 or so short articles, most seemingly specifically written for the book. They are loving (and/or gritty) recollections of David as told by folks such as Graham 'Evil' Lee (keeper of the Triffids flame), Nick Cave, Bleddyn Butcher, Robert McComb, Gavin Martin, Mick Harvey, Mick Kakulas, Robert Forster and many others.
There is also some orginal stuff from David himself - along with various photos and drawings.

For anyone still feeling the hole left by David's parting, this is the book for you.

Did you love the Triffids ?. I did, and Davids death was a great loss to an amazing band. Some years on, missing the youthful days I spent watching The Triffids, I ordered this book - Vagabond holes is well worth reading - takes you back to days watching the Triffids in The Town and Country club, or Dingwalls. If you want more , read Bleddyn Butchers book "Save What you Can", which I have to admit , I liked better - you need to get it shipped from Oz, but no matter, it arrives swiftly.

Although most certainly not a conventional biography, this collection of writings focuses on David McComb and his undeniable talent. There is a huge contrast in style, varying from the personal recollections of those very close to him to highly academic analysis of his lyrics. The book is not always an easy read and gives only glimpses of David McComb the man. What it does admirably is emphasise his commitment to his art. However, as books about the Triffids and their enigmatic front man are hard to find, this is a rewarding and satisfying read.
