This was a great book to read and lose yourself in. Basic plot is that the government (US) has been pushing everyone to have a vaccination against a particularly bad case of the flu, however something went wrong in rushing the vaccine out and it mixed with the flu virus to cause the dead to rise. Problem is...the majority of the US has had the vaccination.

It really is an enjoyable read - try a sample and I'll bet you end up buying it.

A really good book from the outset, we follow Chase, desperately trying to reach his kids after the start of the zombie apocalypse.

A divorced dad of two, who is indifferent to Alison his new girlfriend, drags her from the 911 call center where they work , on a race through the infected city treating her pretty terribly along the way. They pick up some other survivors along the way, Dave, Josh and Jason.

The book is a long journey filled with Chase s terribly bad driving, he crashes so many cars, him going in his head wether or not he was going to leave his companions and hating his ex.

The zombies are a mixture of fast and slow, which was fun, and one zombie was a creepy little kid, very creepy. So it was tense, I'm thinking will the kids survive, will Chase stop being an ass, who's going to die next? I wasn't disappointed at all, except I wad upset about one of the deaths! Chase even got to wreak his wife's car, which he wanted to do. I can't wait for the next.

I loved this book because of the concept, zombies didn't just appear after somebody woke up in a hospital bed! The group of survivors were believable, and I loved the fact that they weren't perfect. Highly recommended.

I'll be the first to admit that Zombie stories aren't usually my thing. When I got my kindle I decided to try stories outside of my comfort zone and this book was certainly that, I found myself squeamish at parts and tense at others, which given the nature of this story was a good thing. This was fast paced and full of action, with engaging characters who you found yourself caring about.

The ending was very intriguing and I will definitely be checking out the follow up.

The story line is not bad and the characters are pretty good. The outbreak of the Zombie plague is well described and believable, as is the helpless horror of those who realise that they are unavoidably doomed. Whilst Chase's determination to reach his children is a strong base to drive the story forward, I found too much of it became rather like OCD and I needed a break. The ending is curious and I may just have to read the next one to see how it works out!
