I was delighted to see that Volt have responded to the very few criticisms I have seen of the bike. The instructions are now well written in decent
English and, even better, Volt they have recently upgraded the instrumentation from kph to mph.
We live some distance from the nearest Volt dealer so they sent the bike to a local bike specialist of my choosing (South Downs Bikes of Storrington) who did an excellent job completing final assembly - the costs of this being met entirely by Volt.
I'd recommend the Volt Pulse without reservation.
Additional comment: This is written 3 months after my first review. I remain absolutely delighetd with the Volt and would continue to award it 5 stars. A couple of points of which to be aware, partricularly if you are new to electric bikes.
Firstly, beacuse you tend to be going slightly faster than might otherwise be the case (particularly uphill!), cars often misjudge your speed of travel and I've had motorists pulling out in front of me more than I'm used to when riding a normal bike. For this reason, I think wearing a high visibility-type jacket is even more important than usual and, perhaps for the same reason, I find myself wanting to use a rear-view mirror more often than I'm used to. I've since bought the well-reviewed Generic Mirrycle Mirror (£12.98 from Amazon) and confirm that this is easy to fit and suits the Volt very well. Even better were Volt to fit it as standard (hint).
Secondly, because electric bikes are heavier than traditional bikes (because of the battery and the motor), they gather speed downhill at a much faster rate than one is used to. And the combination of faster speed and greater mass puts a MUCH bigger loading on the brakes; particularly the front brakes. That's no problem for the Volt as it has a high quality front (and rear) disc brake. But this wasn't something I'd particularly considered when chosing the bike. I was riding quite quickly down a very steep, narrow and winding country lane coming off the South Downs this morning and was putting more load on the brakes than I think I've ever had to do before in 50 years of riding bikes. So, particularly if you will be riding out of town in hilly areas make sure you chose an electric bike with REALLY good brakes!
As you'll see I'm very positive about the Volt so should perhaps add that I have no connection with the firm and paid the normal price like everyone else.
However now I have the bike I am over the moon with it, but it would take too long here to praise all its points. Although its far from cheap I doubt a better model could be found. If you want an electric bike this is definitely the one for you. It's magic.
